Students and Staff,

Below is a list of dates, times and activities for Homecoming. We hope this information will be helpful to you in preparing for an exciting Homecoming. If you have questions, please give us a call.

Mr. Sweeney will answer your questions about the games.

Carnations

ü  $9.00 – pay when ordering

ü  Sold in the morning and at lunch

ü  Sold September 15 – 19th

ü  Pick up on Homecoming day from 7:30 – 8:10 a.m. in the cafeteria

ü  Elementary staff see the Elementary Office staff to purchase.

Checks made out to CCHS Cheerleaders. Jennifer will deliver on the 26th.

Hallway decorations

ü  Each class must provide their own supplies

ü  Posters are judged on Spelling, originality, creativity, school spirit and neatness

ü  Do not hang posters during class time. Hang them during Advisory or after school.

ü  Posters must be in place by 4:30 on Wednesday, Sept. 25th for judging.

ü  Assigned areas:

Freshman – Fairness St.

Hallway decorations, cont.

Sophomores – Responsibility Blvd.

Juniors – Respect Ave. from Trustworthiness St. to Fairness St.

Seniors – Respect Ave. from Caring St. to Trustworthiness St.

Car painting

ü  Cost is $1.00

ü  Sold in the morning and at lunch

ü  Sold September 15 – 19th

ü  School spirit themes only

ü  Sign up and pay for painting in the cafeteria while carnations are being sold.

ü  Cheerleaders will paint on Monday Sept 22nd.

Boom Night

ü  Begins at 7:30 in HS Gym; free Admission

ü  Skit practice during Advisory only with Advisory teacher present

ü  Maximum of 10 minute skits/class

ü  Head sponsor must read and approve his/her class’s skit and turn it in to Mr. Sweeney by 4:00 Tuesday (9/23). Any class failing to turn in completed, approved skits will not be allowed to perform at Boom Night.

ü  No impersonating staff, administration, students or faculty

ü  No profanity in music used in skit or in the skit itself

ü  No food, silly string, political campaigning, signs or speeches

ü  Judged on evidence of school spirit and pride, creativity, cohesiveness, class participation, and clean-up afterwards

ü  Spirit fire to follow on the practice football field , weather permitting

Theme Days

ü  Costumes will be judged at the start of 2nd hour Monday – Thursday in the cafeteria.

ü  ALL costumes must be school appropriate!

ü  Prizes will be awarded; Yearbook pictures will be taken.

ü  Monday – “Mr. Sandman, send us a Victory” wear pajamas

ü  Tuesday – “I’m Gonna Wash that Team right out of my Hair” wear your hair wild and crazy.

ü  Wednesday - “We’ve Got the Eye of the Tiger” dress as something that ends in “er” There will be no “Strippers”, “Hookers”, “Flashers” or extra “Teachers”. Acceptable “ers” would be “Farmer” or “Hunters” without guns.

ü  Thursday – “Old Time Rock and Roll to a Victory” dress as someone from the nursing home

ü  Friday – “Celebrate Clarke Pride” dress in maroon and white

Coronation/Voting

ü  Grades 9 – 12 students and staff will be voting for Homecoming royalty on Monday, Sept. 22nd.

ü  Vote during Advisory in your own room; if you don’t have an advisory, a ballot will be placed in your mailbox.

ü  Return ballots to Ms. March by the end of the day (22nd).

ü  Coronation assembly will be at 1:30 on Friday, September 26th in the auditorium for grades 7 – 12 and the public.

ü  Classes will run on a 1:25 dismissal schedule on the 26th.

Parade

ü  Homecoming parade begins at 2:30.

ü  If you have a club or organization that wants to be in the parade, contact Ms. March by Sept. 19th.

ü  Students may not drive in the parade.

ü  You may not throw candy if in the parade.

School Decorating

ü  Boom Night decorating is from 9:30 – 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25th .

ü  Complete the Activity Sheet at the end of this information and turn it in to Mr. Stephens by 4:00 Sept. 24th.

ü  Students not signed up will be ticketed for trespassing.

ü  Each class is responsible for their assigned areas.

ü  Clean up must be completed by 8:10 a.m. Monday Sept 29th.

ü  See Mr. Stephens if you have questions regarding School Decorating.

Homecoming Dance

ü  Saturday, September 27th from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. in the HS gym

ü  Arrive by 8:30 p.m.

ü  $4.00 Admission will be charged

ü  Free food will be provided while supplies last

Boom Night Activities Worksheet

Please turn in to Mr. Stephens by 4:00 p.m., Sept. 24th

Decoration areas:

* Seniors will have the south side of the campus and the football fence. Seniors also have the spirit rock which must be done during the daytime hours.

* Juniors will have the baseball fence and the east side of the campus.

* Sophomores will have the softball fence and the north side of the campus.

* Freshmen will have the tennis fence and the west side of the campus.

All materials used for decorations must be in the building by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday night. Each area must be cleaned up by 8:10 a.m. Monday September 29th. If it is not cleaned up, the amount of funds needed to pay the custodians will be taken out of the class funds.
