The AGM of the HKU Education Alumni Association willbe held on December 11, 2011. Details as below:

A re-union dinner gathering will be held right after the AGM. The executive committee would like to invite all HKU Education Alumni Association members to attend and meet some old friends. Interested faculty of education graduates are also welcomed to join this event. Please find the details below:

We are honored to have Dr. WONG King-por Edwin, the Acting President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong – Tung Wah Group of Hospital Community College with us that evening to share with us his view on Private Tertiary Education. He will speak for about 15 minutes before we share our dinner together.

Note 1:

There were 3 amendments of the Constitution proposed in the last AGM. The 3 amendments were stipulated below:

  1. The second section of the Constitution was written as “SECTION ONE – GENERAL”. It is proposed to be revised as “SECTION TWO – MISSION”
  1. Clause 18 of the Constitution:

“The Executive Committee shall convene an Extraordinary General Meeting within one month of receiving a written joint request from over 50 members.”

It is proposed to be revised as:

“The Executive Committee shall convene an Extraordinary General Meeting within one month of receiving a written joint request from over 20 members.”

The proposed change underlined.

  1. Clause 22 of the Constitution:

“The quorum for a General Meeting shall be 15 members. If the number of members present is less than the quorum, the meetings shall be postponed for 14 days when the meeting must be carried out regardless of the number of members present, which shall form a quorum.”

It is proposed to be revised as:

“22a.The quorum for a General Meeting shall be 15 members. If the number of members present is less than the quorum, the meetings shall be postponed for 14 days when the meeting must be carried out regardless of the number of members present, which shall form a quorum.

22b. A member can give a proxy to any other member if he or she cannot attend the General Meeting. When the member who is given the proxy attends the General Meeting, the proxy will be counted as a valid quorum.”
