Academy Requirements
There are two summer sessions available to students in Levels 1-4. Students may attend either the first three week session, the second three week session, or opt to come for the entire six weeks.Please note there will be no ability to carry over, make up, or overlap either session.
Local current students of Houston Ballet Academy in levels 3-5 will be required to attend our summer program for either three weeks or six weeks in order to avoid re-auditioning for admittance into the year-round program in the fall.Attendance is not mandated for students in Levels 1 and 2, though artistic staff strongly encourages participation in the summer program.

*Please note the Academy will be closed for the 4th of July and no classes will be held that day.
DAILY SCHEDULEOF CLASSES
Attendance is mandatory in all classes. If a student is ill and is not able to participate in class, he/she should notify the Academy Office at 713-535-3208 or by emailing
Weekly class schedules will be posted on the bulletin boards located on the 1st floor in the hallway to the restrooms. An additional schedule will be posted on the main bulletin board located on the 3rd floor hallway. If students have questions about their daily/weekly schedule, they should report to the Academy Office. The Academy staff will be able to answer any questions. Please note the schedule is subject to change.

ARRIVING FOR CLASS
Classes will begin promptly at the designated time. All students in levels 1-4 should wait in the 1st floor until the start of class. The instructor will call all students upstairs and lead them to their assigned studio. Parents are not permitted upstairs except for Observation Days. Please do not arrive or drop off more than fifteen minutes before your child’s designated class time. Parents are allowed to wait in the first floor lobby for the duration of the class. The lobby is equipped with snack and beverage vending machines. Wireless internet is also available.
A men’s and women’s restroom is located in the hallway on the 1st floor off of the Parent/Student Lounge. These restrooms contain bathroom stalls, lockers, and a changing area. Students should be vigilant of where they leave their belongings at all times. All valuables should be left at home. Note that your child’s class may run continually for a few hours and consider packing a snack and a bottle of water if necessary.
2014 SUMMER PROGRAM: PARENT OBSERVATION DAYS (level 4 Pre-Pointe and pointe only)
Houston Ballet Academy invites parents and family of students in levels 4 Pre-Pointe and Pointe to an observation hour on Thursday, July 17th. The time will be determined at a later date.
CLASS UNIFORMS
Level 1:
Girls:Cirrus blue camisole leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.
Leotards may be tank-styled. Please no long sleeve, spaghetti-strap, cap sleeve or halter style leotards and no low-dipping backs.
Suggested style: Motionwear – Tank 2200
Boys:Black bike shorts. Leotard: Baltogs – Style 380T General white form fitting crew neck t-shirt. White socks. Black ballet shoes.
Level 2:
Girls:Iris camisole leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.

*Note: Leg warmers and ballet skirts are not allowed in classes. Also note Levels 1 and 2 will not be required to purchase character shoes or character skirts.
PURCHASING ATTIRE AND SHOES
Houston Ballet does not have a dance supplies store on site. However, we are fortunate to have a dance store near our studios where students can purchase needed supplies during their stay in Houston.
The following store carries Houston Ballet Academy uniforms:

Students who have outstanding balances after June 1st will not be allowed to participate in the 2014 Summer Intensive Program. Tuition payment options are as follows:
- Option #1: Payment in Full
One-time full-tuition payment due at the point of registration. Please note payment in full for Intro to Level 1 students is due at registration.
- Option #2: Automatic Payment Plan (credit card only)
If selected, the credit card designated in the Credit Card Payment section will be automatically charged for one quarter of the total tuition amount: immediately after the point of registration, on 4/15/14 and 5/15/14. Designated credit card is not to expire before July 2014.
- Option #3: Installment Plan (check, cash, or credit card)
Minimum installments of one quarter of the total tuition are due: at the point of registration and on, 4/15/14 and 5/15/14. The parent(s) or guardian of the registered child will be responsible for ensuring the Academy Office receives this payment prior to the end of each billing cycle.

All checks should be made payable to Houston Ballet, and include your child’s name in the memo section with the words “summer tuition”.
WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY: All tuition and fees paid to the Academy are non-refundable.
If a student wishes to withdraw from the Academy, the Academy Office must receive, in writing, a notification that the student is withdrawing. The parent or guardian will be responsible for all tuition payments due up until the point the Academy receives written notification of the withdrawal. Should a student withdraw in the beginning or middle of a quarter which has been paid, the remaining tuition will be forfeited to Houston Ballet Academy. The Academy is not liable or obligated in any way to process any refunds or issue any tuition credits.
If a student's tuition is not paid in full by June 1, 2014, the student will not be allowed to attend class.
NON-DISCRIMINATION/NON-HARASSMENT POLICY
Houston Ballet Academy is dedicated to the treatment of all persons with respect and dignity and to providing an environment that is free from any form of discrimination or harassment. The Academy prohibits and will not tolerate harassment of any kind to or by any persons, including teachers, staff, students, parents and any other person affiliated with or doing business with Houston Ballet Academy. This prohibition includes harassment for any unlawful discriminatory reason, such as race, gender, national origin, disability, age or religion. This policy also prohibits actions that, while they may not be so severe or serious as to constitute harassment in a legal sense, are nevertheless commonly understood to be abusive and disrespectful of others. Accordingly, slurs, jokes, or remarks that are derogatory of a person or group’s race, ethnic background, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, economic status or age are considered inappropriate for the Academy’s environment.
Each person is responsible for exercising his or her own good judgment to avoid engaging in conduct that may violate this policy. A person who believes himself or herself to be a victim of discrimination or harassment should report the incident to the Academy Director. The matter will be dealt with on a confidential basis with disclosure only to the extent necessary for fair problem resolution and only to those who have an immediate need to know.
MEDIA POLICY
All media inquiries and requests for interviews and information must be referred to Houston Ballet’s public relations department. No dancer, student, parent, teacher, employee, staff member or other person affiliated with Houston Ballet or the Academy should talk with a member of the media about Houston Ballet, the Academy or any individual associated with either organization, on or off the record, without prior authorization from the public relations department.
All photographs taken of Houston Ballet students during Houston Ballet classes or photo sessions are the sole property of Houston Ballet.
Occasionally, students are interviewed by journalists and media crews to promote activities of the Academy and Company.
