VACATIONS
When a parent takes a vacation I ask that you give me a 4 week notice prior to your vacation if possible. Parents are required to pay a $40 holding fee to maintain your spot in daycare.Your fee is due prior to your vacation.
I usually take 1-2 weeks’ vacation per year; sometimes I do not close at all. But if I do take a vacation I will give you a 4 week notice. When or if I do take a vacation, I will not charge you for the vacation time that I take off. (However, tips/bonuses are welcomed)
MEALS
Food is offered to your child but they are not forced to eat it. I will notify you right away if your child is not eating.
MEDICINE
I will administer medicine to your child, but you will need to sign a form. Medicine must be properly labeled with the child’s name on it and the dosage and times to be administered. If the child’s medication can be taken before and after care, please leave me as administering the medication as a last resort.
IMMUNIZATIONS
All children are required to have a copy of their current and update shot records.Parents are required to keep their children’s shots up to date. This is very important because of health safety for my other kids.
ILLNESSES
We must maintain a healthy environment for the benefit of your child and the other children enrolled in care. A child must stay home if they have a high fever101 or above, if they are vomiting, has diarrhea or any illness which is determined to be harmful to your child or the children in daycare. If your child becomes ill while at daycare, I will call you right away.
SUPPLIES
I will provide all the daily supplies for your child’s play and learning which include: activity coloring books, games, toys, puzzles, outdoor play equipment, etc. If your child brings a toy or an item from home, I will not be responsible if it gets lost or broken. I have children to care for and I cannot keep track of play toys brought from home.
HOUSE RULES
The following rules are reinforced for the safety and well being of everyone. There is no hitting, pushing, biting, grabbing, kicking, pinching the other children. Obscene language is not allowed. Respectful treatment of other children and all property, toys, and furniture is expected. Willful destruction of property will be charged to the parent at the cost to replace the item.
DISCIPLINE
My philosophy is that you use discipline to teach a child. I achieve this through love, consistency, patience and firmness. The children are explained the rules of the daycare home frequently so that they all know the guidelines. Once a child understands the rules and disobeys them, the developmentally appropriate guidance techniques will be used. These techniques are: Redirection - Time Out - Removal of Privilege - Last Resort - when a child's behavior is continually upsetting or dangerous to me or others, a conference will be called with the parents. If the problems cannot be resolved, arrangements will have to be made for the child to go elsewhere for care.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Children are to arrive clean. It is normal for children to be hesitant and sometimes even cry when dropping them off. Please be very brief (no more than 5 minutes is sufficient) during drop off times; the longer you prolong the departure the harder it gets. A smile, cheerful good-bye kiss, and a reassuring word that you will be back is all you need to do.
Please be very brief at pick up times also. This is a time of testing when two different authority figures are present (the parent and the provider) and all the children will test to see if the rules still apply. It is important that you back up my rules at this time, but if you do not, I will remind your child of inappropriate behaviors being displayed and take action to correct them if needed. Please be in control of your child during pick up times!
Do not allow your child to run out to your car while you are still inside or while you are in my backyard!! The safety rule is "No one goes outside without their parent with them."
Drop-off and pickup times are not the times to discuss problems. Parental communication is vital; it is the key to a successful childcare arrangement. If there are any problems or concerns please call me. And at times, I may call you.
TOILET TRAINING
I will be more than happy to help with potty training provided that the parents initiate the process at home first. I expect parents to work with me in this process which means once potty training is initiated I want the child in training pants or pull-ups at all times. Putting a child in a diaper for your convenience because you are going out or for whatever reason will only confuse the child and delay the training process. I also require that all potty training children wear clothing that they can handle successfully on their own - no onesies, no overalls, no belts or jeans with buttons or snaps. Elastic waist pants are the most appropriate. Parents will be asked to supply extra sets of spare clothing during the training period.
“KATIE” CLAUSE
This is to confirm that I have informed you of our family dog, Katie. She’s a rat terrier mixed with a beagle. Although she is very friendly, she will be kept away from your child for the majority of the time. I have informed you of her being an in-house dog and your enrollment with Ms. Pooh’s Fun Care indicates that you have no objections. Any allergic reactions to pets are not the responsibility of Ms. Pooh, or Ms. Pooh’s Fun Care.
