APPENDIX 3 - Template for OC Questionnaire to Lot Owners

Introduction

The Owners Corporation is gathering information from Lot Owners to establish current Internet use in the building, and Owners interest in upgrading their broadband services.

NBN Co is responsible for the roll-out of the National Broadband Network, including to multi-dwelling units. A number of other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have also foreshadowed their intention to offer similar services. Each will provide Fibre-to-the-Basement (FTTB) plans offering speeds of up to 100Mb/s for around the same price as current high-end ADSL2+ plans (around $70 per month).

FTTB runs optical fibre to the basement of buildings and uses existing copper within the building to deliver connection to individual units / apartments. The ISP would be responsible for the installation of the fibre to the building and maintenance of their equipment on the building premises, generally at no cost to the Owners Corporation.

These plans may include unlimited downloads, home phone line rental, unlimited local and standard national calls to landlines, a certain number of international call minutes per month and a Wi-Fi modem on one or two year contracts.

It would be very helpful to the Owners Corporation if you could answer the questions below and return the completed Questionnaire to ………… by ………….

The Owners Corporation would of course consult further with Lot Owners and seek the necessary approvals at a General Meeting before entering into any such broadband contract.

Questionnaire

1.  Your Lot Number

2.  Current Internet Access

·  ADSL / Cable / Mobile

·  Current Internet Plan with your ISP, e.g. “iiNet Home-2 Plan”

3.  How interested would be in taking up an upgraded broadband service, as outlined above

·  Very Likely / Somewhat Interested / Not Interested / Prefer to wait until the future delivery of NBN to multi-unit dwellings is clearer

·  What would influence you most in deciding, eg, cost, reliability of service, wider availability of content.

4.  To ensure service quality it may be that the Owners Corporation could only allow one such FTTB service through a single ISP (Note: this would NOT preclude Owners from continuing to use their current ADSL / Mobile Internet service with the ISP of their choice). In your view:

·  Exclusivity Does not matter / Not interested in such a broadband service if exclusivity within the building is required
