Aliens in Roswell

After a string of reported UFO sightings during the summer of 1947, “ ranch foreman Mac Brazel told the Sheriff of Chaves County about some strange material he had found on the Foster Ranch, and that he was sure it was the remains of a ‘flying disk’”(“Roswell UFO”). Army Air Force Major Jesse Marcel led the investigation of the report and a press release was made to the public.News of the incident began running in the local and eventually, national newspapers. However, on July 8th, the same day the news broke, “the Army Air Force base in Fort Worth had examined the wreckage and identified it not as a flying saucer, but as a high altitude weather balloon carrying a radar target made of aluminum and balsa wood”(“Roswell UFO”). The public accepted this explanation and the topic was not widely discussed again until 1978 when nuclear physicist, Stanton Friedman’s research sparked renewed interest. The UFO crash-landing near Roswell, New Mexico in July, 1947 was covered up by President Harry S. Truman and Air Force General Roger Ramey due to fears of threats to national security and the risk of public hysteria.

With the public at ease following the event, the government secretly began gathering intelligence on not just Roswell, but any reported UFO activity. In his research, Stanton Friedman discovered the documents known as Majestic 12,“that showed without a doubt, that a written policy was in force to cover up anything related to UFOs…It was originally believed that Majestic 12 was set up by President Truman as a means of controlling all the information coming in about flying discs, aliens, etc., in a special classified presidential order, on September 24, 1947” (Balthaser).The kinds of subjects covered were extensive, and the topic headings showed that the Truman administration was at least considering the possibility that there were ET’s and UFO’s. Some of the documents refer to specific instances of crafts, alien technology, alien life forms being discovered. The security classification is 2 points above that of Top Secret, and some of the topics discussed are listed below:

  • The current situation is that several dead entities have been recovered along with a substantial amount of wreckage and devices from downed craft, all of which are now under study at various locations.
  • A description of the various shaped crafts.
  • EBE's (Extraterrestrial Biological Entities) is given.
  • A Description of the Extraterrestrial Technology is listed.
  • Details about security, including Press Blackout, Security of the Area, and Removal and Transport are mentioned. (Balthaser)

It is clear from the evidence that dead bodies of an extraterrestrial origin were recovered from the scene, as well as the contents of the aircrafts and the aircrafts themselves, which are all then supposedly taken to multiple locations to be studied. It is also clear that the cover up was put in to effect immediately by controlling the press.
