November 2016

Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

As a group of lead students we are writing to tell you about an exciting fundraising event that we are organising, which will be held on the last day of term before we break up for Christmas. On Friday the 16th of December, it’s ‘Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day’ and we have persuaded Mr McKee to allow students to wear their Christmas Jumpers to school on the condition that a £1 donation is brought in, which will go to the charity.

As well as raising money for charity, we as lead students would like to raise as much money as possible for Patcham High School. We would therefore be able to make improvements to our facilities and buy new equipment that would benefit our school tremendously. Often, we make suggestions to staff about how we would like various improvements to our school, whether they be big or small. However, we are usually told that there isn’t any money to make these changes we so desperately wish to see.

Therefore, we have decided to do something about it. We have challenged every Patcham High School Student to raise as much sponsorship as they possibly can. By completing a Christmas Jumper run of up to 5km on the school field,it is our hope that every student and member of staff will take part in this opportunity and make the changes they want to see. The run itself can be as competitive as each student wants to make it, so essentially, it can be walked, jogged, run or a combination of all 3.

To avoid the hassle of hundreds of sponsorship forms, we have decided instead to create a Just-Giving page for each year group, for which the links are displayed below. It is as easy as clicking on the link for your child’s year group page, and then making a donation. On the pages we have given more details about what we’d like to improve here at Patcham.

If they haven’t got a Christmas Jumper, and can’t get one, then it is not a problem. It would be great if they can still make a donation to Save the Children; it certainly doesn’t mean they can’t take part in the run and get sponsored for doing so!

We would be hugely grateful if you could support us in our whole school challenge, which will not only be positive for everyone at Patcham High School, but will also benefit the local community, both now and in years to come.

Students we hope to see you in your Christmas Jumpers on the 16th of December. Parents/Carers it would be amazing if you could support us all.

Kind regards,

Patcham High School Lead Students.
