4 / White curing paper / Comply with ASTM C 171

Bond breaker must be one of the following:

1.White curing paper complying with ASTM C 171

2.White opaque polyethylene film complying with ASTM C 171 except the minimum thickness must be 6 mils

3.Paving asphalt, Grade PG 64-10, complying with section 92

4.Curing compound no. 3 complying with section 90

XX-Z.02C Bond Breaker on New Base

Bond breaker must be curing compound no.3 complying with section 90.

XX-Z.03 CONSTRUCTION

XX-Z.03A General

Before placing bond breaker, remove foreign and loose materials from the base.

Place bond breaker less than 72 hours before covering it with pavement.

Use bond breaker no. 1 or 2 on LCB. Use bond breaker no. 3 or 4 on LCBRS and CTPB.

Except when pavement is placed against previously placed pavement, extend the bond breaker at least 6 inches beyond the limits of the planned concrete placement.

XX-Z.03B Placement

Curing paper or polyethylene filmmust not be wrinkled. Overlap adjacent sheets a minimum of 6 inches and in the same direction as the concrete pour. Tape or bond the sheets together.Secure the bond breaker sufficiently so that it remains in place during concrete pavement placement. Ensure that no concrete gets under the bond breaker.

Before placing paving asphalt, do not add water. Apply the paving asphaltbond breaker no. 1 in 1 even application at a rate from 0.02 to 0.10 gallons per square yardover the entire base surface area. Do not add water to bond breaker. Do not place concrete pavement until the paving asphaltbond breaker has cured.

Apply curing compound, in 2 separate applications. Apply each application evenly at a rate from 0.07 to 0.11 gallons per square yard over the entire base surface area. If curing compound has previously been applied, you may apply only a single coatbond breakerno. 2 at a rate of 0.045 gallons per square yard or more..

Curing paper or polyethylene filmBond breakers no. 3 and 4must not be wrinkled. Overlap adjacent sheets a minimum of 6 inches and in the same direction as the concrete pour. Tape or bond the sheets together as needed to prevent sheets from folding or wrinkling.. Secure the bond breaker sufficiently so that it remains in place during concrete pavement placement. Ensure that no concrete gets under the bond breaker.

XX-Z.03C Protecting Bond Breaker

Protect bond breaker from damage. Repair damaged bond breaker.

XX-Z.04 PAYMENT

If dimensions are shown for bond Bond breaker, measurement is measured based onthose dimensions.the dimensions shown.

If dimensions are not shown, bond breaker is measured as the actual length of the pavement placed times the specified width of pavement placed on the bond breaker. No payment is made for overlaps.
