Volunteer Opportunities for Shaker Shark Invitational
Each year the Sharks run a large short course swim meet. Our meet takes place at the ClevelandStateUniversity. It is made up of 5 sessions, each lasting about 4 hours (with the exception of Friday night which is shorter due to fewer events). We need Shaker parents to volunteer for one session. Even if your child is not swimming in the meet, please consider coming to the session with your son/daughter to help volunteer. All of our swimmers who qualify are encouraged to participate. Their participation, along with several hundred other young swimmers from northeast Ohio, means a large number of volunteers are needed to make this meet a success. Please help us continue our outstanding tradition of running an excellent meet. The Shaker Invitational is a great way for you and your swimmer to experience USA Swimming at its most fun. _____ TimingRun a stopwatch with a partner – lots of standing on deck. Need 22.
_____ RunnerNeed 4 people – 1 to run photocopier and 3 others to distribute lane assignment sheets to timers and officials and post results.
______DQ Runner (Can be a sibling…8 or over, please). Carries pieces of paper from
officials on deck to official’s table. Lots of down time.
_____ Check-InHelp swimmers check in. Take names of no-shows to computer. Need 2.
_____ Clerk-of-CourseAfternoons only. Line up little swimmers. Need loud voice.Need 4.
_____ AdmissionsHandle money/answer questions. Must show up half hour early. Need 2.
_____ HospitalityPlan meals & snacks, organize & buy food, serve at meet. Need 4+.
_____ AwardsSit on deck & give out awards to excited kids. Need 2.
_____ Deck EntryProcess paperwork for deck entries, time trials and relays. Sit in office off of deck & learn rules. Need 2.

There are some qualifying times for this meet. Please go to for the times. All Shaker Sharks who qualify should attend. The entry fee of $30 for three days, $25 for two days or the $15 fee for one day is due by Wednesday, November 7, 2007. Please make checks payable to Shaker Sharks.
