You will be passionate about supporting unemployed young people to develop the skills they need to secure life-changing permanent employment.

So what does the role involve? Working intensively with a caseload of young people, providing one to one support and mentoring, coordinating and delivering employability sessions, organising work experience and liaising with employers.

We’re looking for a target driven and energetic self-starter who has experience ofmanaging a caseload, is passionate about supporting young people into paid jobs and thrives in a fast paced work environment.

You will be joining a small busy teamand will have the chance to be involved in all elements of the growing charity and social enterprise - you mustbe able to balance competing priorities, think on your feet and be invested in our social mission.

What are the main duties?

•Liaise with external partners and referral agencies (e.g. Jobcentre Plus, youth support agencies, schools, colleges, welfare to work providers, community and voluntary organisations etc.) to recruit target number of young people onto the ‘Get Employed’ programme.

•Lead on recruitment sessions tomeet young people interested in joining the programme, complete initial assessments, check young person meets eligibility requirements, and demonstrates commitment to completing the programme.

•Lead on induction including one to one sessions with each young person, agree and complete personal action plan, timetable of employability workshops and work experience shifts.

•Meet with young people on a weekly basis to review progress, update personal action plan, provide support as required including access to additional work experience, help to update CV, interview preparation, support to attend interviews etc.

•Deliver employability workshops including sessions on developing a CV, preparing for interviews, mystery shopping and coordinating regular job club sessions.

•Weekly review of caseload with colleagues reviewing progress on work experience, skills development, access to corporate/ partner workshops, job readiness and referrals to jobs.

•Book young people onto corporate days/ training and accompany them on these corporate days encouraging them to apply for jobs and work experience.

•Update tracker on a daily basis and provide regular updates during weekly team meetings and reviews with line manager.

•Build positive relationships with local employers to generate job opportunities and additional work experience for young people on the ‘Get Employed’ programme.

•Match young people to job opportunities and work experience taking into account the requirements of the employer.

•Meet targets for supporting young people into jobs and helping them to sustain and progress in work.

•Produce case studiesfor young people moving into work collating photos, quotes from young people and employers and promoting these success stories to our funders and supporters.

•Provide weekly reports (or as required by funders) on progress towards targets and KPIs including targets for recruitment, retention on programme, work experience, progression into paid work and sustained work.

•Follow up with young people who fall off the programme encouraging them to re-engage and providing feedback to referral agency.

•Attend external meetings including partner and networking events.

•Professional development and training to stay abreast of changing to the young employability and training landscape.

•Health and Safety requirements relevant to the post.

•Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults at risks

•Travel to other Circle locations (Lewisham) as required.

•Undertake any additional duties as required.

This role will require a criminal record check (DBS) and candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Person Specification: Youth Programme Coordinator

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications / -Qualification in English and Maths or supporting
Basic/Functional/Key Skills at Level 2 / -PTTLS, PGCE or other teaching qualification or willingness and ability to obtain a relevant qualification.
-IAG qualification
Experience / -Experience of working in the Charity, Welfare to Work or Apprenticeship sector
-Experience of working with young people aged 16 - 24, and ‘NEET’ young people living in London. / -Experience of working to job entry targets and engaging with employers
Knowledge / -Understanding of the challenges facing young people trying to enter the job market in London
-Current education standards and the requirements for entry level roles / -Knowledge of the welfare to work landscape and opportunities available for young people including apprenticeships
Skills and Abilities / -Excellent communications skills, written and verbal
-Ability to network effectively and build relationship
-Ability to be responsive to the individual needs of a young person
-The ability to work in a non-discriminatory manner
