This year Fairtrade Fortnight will take place from Monday 27th February to Sunday 12th March. As part of our efforts to learn about and raise awareness of Fairtrade, we will be holding a Fairtrade Fashion Show on Thursday 9th March at 6-8pm in the Central Hall.
All children in the school will be given a Fairtrade cotton t-shirt to design with the option of purchasing their completed shirt for £4. To help keep costs to a minimum, if you have more than one child in the school, t-shirts will be available at a discounted rate of 2 for £7 and 3 for £10. T-shirts will be available to purchase from Monday 13th March.
Classes will have a ‘themed’ design for their t-shirt and using set success criteria. Three t-shirts then will be chosen by the children in the class with the shirts worn on the night of the show. Due to the restricted space in the Central Hall, children who wish to take part on the evening will have to audition for a place on the catwalk and children chosen will not necessarily be modelling their own t- shirt.
Auditions are open to all children from P1 to P7 and will take place during lunchtimes from Monday6th February at 12.30–1pm. If your child is successful they must be able to rehearse during lunchtimes and occasionally afterschool. We will be auditioning for comperes, models and also children who would like to showcase their talents for example singing, dancing or playing a musical instrument to perform during intervals in the show.
Tickets for the Fairtrade Fashion Show will cost £2 each and because of the restricted space, tickets will initially be offered to the parents/carers of children who are taking part in the show and will be limited to 2 tickets per pupil. We apologise that we are unable to invite all parents/carers to the show but all children will be given an opportunity on Friday 10th March to wear their t-shirts and showcase them to the rest of the school.
If your child/children wish to audition, please complete the tear of slip below and return to school by Friday 3rd February.
