ANTICIPATED VACANCY
Responsible for planning for all State Emergency Response Team (SERT) disaster communications, planning for all daily emergency operations communications, maintenance of all preparedness communications plans for the SERT and NC Div. of EmergencyMgt. Management of the State Strategic Technology Reserve for Communications (Radio Trailers/Radio Caches/Mobile Towers/SATCOM), management/assignment of the Voice Interoperability Plan for Emergency Responders (VIPER) State Event Talk Groups, direct supervision of the 24 Hr. Center Supervisor. Position also serves as the Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the State’s interoperability efforts, coordinatinginteroperability and communications projects, maintaining governance structures, assembling working groups to develop and implement key initiatives and updating the Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of analytical communications planning techniques applied in research of and analysis of information pertaining to emergency/disaster events. Thorough knowledge of the operation of communications equipment. Ability to interpret Federal and State legislation, regulations, guidelines and policies related to emergency management programs. Ability to work in extremely stress full situations, Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in urban or regional planning or a related field, and four years of experience in developing emergency operations and/or strategic plans; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. . . .
