Job Description
Position: Development Manager
Reports to:Development & Communications Director
Salary: £28,500 p.a.
Job Purpose: This position will play a key role in enabling Central School of Ballet to maximise on fundraising income.
Working closely with the Development and Communications Director you will identify funding opportunities, build new relationships and secure funds from private donors and Trusts & Foundations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To contribute to the strategic development of Central School of Ballet’s revenue fundraising programme of activities.
To contribute to the fundraising strategy to raise core and project funds from individuals, trusts and foundations.
Individual Giving
- To build relationships with a portfolio of donors and prospects in order to increase their level of support;
- To retain and increase support from donors by delivering an excellent programme of customer care, this will include the delivery of a range of benefits
- To work with members of the Campaign Council to identify and recruit new donors, and to increase support from existing supporters
Trusts and Foundations
- Maintain relationships with existing Trusts & Foundations and identify new prospects for revenue fundraising
- Research and preparation of proposals and documents for Central School of Ballet and Ballet Central
- To prepare and submit applications for Bursaries. Prepare and provide reports as and when required.
Management of Central Friends
- Oversee the processing of payments for membership fees, renewals and additional donations.
- Determine all communications for the members across the year in agreement with the Development Director.
- Oversee and attend all events.
Events
- Coordinate and oversee all of Central’s in-house and external events to maximise their effectiveness and ensure relevance to Central’s fundraising requirements
- Manage invitation lists for each event
- Undertake full coordination of each event, liaising with relevant external and internal parties, artistic and administrative staff and students as appropriate, to ensure all organisational aspects are effectively executed
Database and Information Systems
- Manage and maintain all records are accurate, kept up to date and legally compliant
- Support the Development Director with research and use of the database as a reporting and prospect management tool.
Accounts
- Financial reconciliation with the Head of Finance and review the department’s monthly reports for accuracy
- Prepare and deliver regular reports required by the Director of Development
- Manage Gift Aid claims for donations.
- Monitor fundraising income against targets.
General
- Adhere to the School policies, procedures and guidelines
- Assist, support and attend event/performances as requested
- Contribute to the operating values and ethos of the School as determined in its mission statement
- Exercise discretion/confidentiality in business, personnel and financial matters externally, particularly regarding press/media and potential competitors

Excellent writing skills
Understanding of Membership Schemes
IT literate with experience of databases
Experience of managing complex budgets
Experience of event organisation
Degree educated

Knowledge of Data Protection legislation
