1. Situation. TheNash CentralHigh SchoolNJROTC fromRocky Mount, NC,comprised of 34members has requested an orientation visit to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (MCRDPI). They will observe and participate in limited training events which will provide students with an understanding of The United States Marine Corps’basic entry leveltraining.

2. Mission. MCRD PI will host and provide support for an orientation visit by34 personnel fromNash CentralHigh School NJROTCfrom 19-23 February 2018aboard the installation in order to introduce them to Marine Corps basic training through participation in limited training events and activities.

3. Execution

a. Commander’s Intent and Concept of Operations. The NJROTC program mission is to instill in students in United Statessecondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to theUnited States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. In support ofthe mission MCRDPI will allow the cadets to observe andparticipate in training events that will support the effort to instill thelisted values, and that will also enhance their motivation, drive,determination, leadership, and teambuilding skills. While the NJROTCprogram is not a Recruiting program, I want to ensure that the cadets, their leaders, as well as their chaperones are introduced to the benefits of service inthe Marine Corps to include our unique training, and have the opportunity to meetand interact with our professional Recruit Training and Recruitingpersonnel. My desired end state is that we have supported the NJROTCmission, that this unit leaves MCRDPI with a positive impression of ParrisIsland, our training, our personnel, and that all members of their grouphave gained an appreciation for the Marine Corps and service to our Nation.

b. Tasks

(1) Commanding Officer, Recruit Training Regiment

(a) Provide one (1) Drill Instructor escort for the duration of the visit. The escort must be able to discuss the details of recruit training operations and answer related questions. Report the name of the escort to the G-3 Visits Officer NLT 1200 on Friday, 16 February 2018.

(b) Provide all personnel briefs and demonstrations for obstacle course, receiving, Iwo Jima, DI Monument.

(c)Provide billeting for the group (15males, 15females and 4 chaperones) IAW enclosure (1). Report the location of the billeting to the G-3 Visits Officer NLT 1200 on Friday, 16 February 2018.

(2)Commanding Officer, Weapons Field Training Battalion. Provide all personnel briefs and demonstrations for the ISMT and observe live fire.

(3)Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3. Serve as staff lead for planning and coordination of the event.

(4)Assistant Chief of Staff, G-4

(a) Coordinate with SODEXO to provide messing for the group (34 personnel) IAW enclosure (1).

(b) Provide linens and blankets for the group (34personnel) to be picked up by the escort NLT 1200 onTuesday,6 February 2018.

4. Administration and Logistics

  1. Corrective measures for JROTC cadetsdisciplinary problems should be

taken by the military staff as dictated bythe school's disciplinary policy. Such action does not includeadministration of corporal punishment. Under no circumstances will JROTCinstructors administer corporal punishment. Corporal punishment includesrequiring cadets to perform excessive physical acts (i.e., pushups, sit-ups,running, etc.). At no time will MCRDPI personnel administer punishment during thecourse of the visit or violate the policy as stated in the reference. IfJROTC unit instructors or chaperones fail to follow the policy as stated, itcould result in the unit's visit being immediately cancelled and a reportsubmitted to the unit's school administration.

  1. The uniform for the escort is the uniform of the day.

c. The escort will meet Nash CentralHigh School NJROTCin the back parking lot of the PX at the predetermined time IAW enclosure (1).

d. Nash CentralHigh School NJROTCwill be providing their own transportation. Their transportation is not authorized to drop the group at the chow hall. The transportation has to park at the basketball courts next to Four Winds and the group will be marching to the dining facility.

e. In the event of adverse incidents, accidents, injuries, etc, escorts will provide a SITREP to AC/S G-3 immediately following an incident. Do not delay reporting if waiting on information. Relay an incomplete report with details known at the time and follow up as information becomes available.

f. Recruit training takes priority over all other events. Brief all changes to the training schedule that may affect or impact the visit to the G-3 visits section as soon as the problem becomes known.

g. Upon the arrival of Nash CentralHigh School NJROTCthe escort will collect the "hold harmless" agreement forms. Every student must have a properly completed form, signed by a parent or legal guardian (if a minor) in order to participate in physical events.

h. Medical support for all non-active duty military members will be Medic 1 with evacuation to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

i. NLT 1200 Friday, 23 February 2018 linen is to be turned into depot laundry where a one-for-one exchange will occur. The fresh linen acquired from depot laundry is then to be turned in to 500A for storage.

j. The group can provide their own linen, pillows or sleeping bags throughout the duration of their visit aboard the Depot.

k. After action reports from the visiting schools and the escort will be turned into the G-3 Visits Officer NLT 1600 on Monday, 5 February 2018.

l. In case of inclement weather, all personnel will move to the nearest overhead shelter and perform appropriate safety measures.

m. The escort will call Recruit Training Regiment prior to conducting any physical activities for flag conditions.

5. Command and Signal

a. Command. This Letter of Instruction (LOI) is applicable to all Marines, Sailors, and civilians.

b. Signal. ThisLOI is effective the date signed.
