Following the successful APSCVIR meeting in Auckland earlier this year, the IRSA Executive have asked me to forward the following details regarding personal APSCVIR membership.

APSCVIR as you knowis the regional Asia-Pacific society with 16 group members from the Asia-Pacific region, including IRSA.

The objectives of APSCVIRare:

  1. Meet regularly to encourage international exchange of knowledge vital to cardiovascular and interventional radiology among radiologists, interventional radiologists and individuals in related fields in different countries of the Asia Pacific region.
  2. Bring together radiologists, interventional radiologists and individuals in related fields to improve the level of clinical practice and research regarding cardiovascular and interventional radiology in the Asia Pacific region.
  3. Support continuing education and training of doctors in each country through appropriate forums or refresher courses to further define the role of cardiovascular and interventional radiology as a subspecialty of medicine in the Asia Pacific region.

The APSCVIR annual scientific meeting held in Auckland this year was hosted by IRSA, withProfessor Andrew Holden and his team the local organising committee. Professor Andrew Holden is the current president of APSCVIR andIRSA has 2 executive committee representatives, Dr Steve Merrilees and Dr Gerard Goh.

APSCVIR also runs an annual outreach programme where IRs travel to a country where IR is a developing field, and help train local IRs in modern techniques and practices.

As IRSA is a group member of ASPCVIR, we would like to encourage all IRSA members to join APSCVIR. There is a one off joining fee which is covered by IRSA, and currently no ongoing yearly membership subscription.
