VII. Other Business Discussion
-Alison: breast feeding/pump program being cut: legally required that the university provide space for people to pump. Innovative program at UCD; have 23 pumps on campus. 16 sites. Allows faculty, staff, and students access to pumps and a lactation advisor. Great program. Talking about dynamic ways to restructure program- new housing, new funding. Breast education program that includes how to give self-check. Alison was approached to get GASC & ASUCD involved. GASC to write bill to get one time or annual funding for pumps etc. on campus? Human resources to be cut) $10,000 per year to keep program going- cost of lactation consultant & pump maintenance. Need to create student awareness. Brooke Coolie at WRRC is contact.
-Talk about reinstating Social Justice Now- addressing issues of white privilege. Email Sarah if want to get involved with it.
-Ridiculous ridiculous StuPack amendment & what we can do as students. UCD students write resolution to senate to show opposition. Work with women’s reproductive health organizations, awareness raising campaigns on campus. Need to band together as students! ASCUD petition if resolution isn’t able to go through due to “controversy” Ideas of working within ASUCD and also working with students directly separate: delegate. Brainstorming as to what we can do as students and as members of GASC.
