Minutes – with Choir

Mattress Sale Saturday 9/15 10-5pm – Company sells brand name custom made mattresses. The company will set up 20 mattresses in cafeteria and their salespeople will sell. Prices range from $199.00-$2000.00. They make flyers and signs and do all of the work. Students will be asked to invite people to sale by giving them a flyer which has a $50.00 coupon – for each coupon used the students will get $25.00 for their accounts. Students can also sign up to hold signs and to dress up as a mattress or to make calls. Delivery takes about 2 weeks. They cannot take old mattresses away but they can move in garage or outside. For each mattress sold there is a flat rate which the music dept. will receive for the sale. All sales are final.

Fall Showcase of Music Saturday 10/20 7pm – Doors will open at 6:30pm. Will go back to silent auction since baskets did not do so well. Need at least 25 raffle items. Will need a committee to solicit raffle gifts – Laura, Fran and Jennie will help. Will need raffle items by 10/7 in order to get donating group in brochure. Discussed phone alerts to remind families of concert. Will sell pizza, nachos, cookies, popcorn and drinks. Will charge students $1.00 for pizza. Decorations were saved from last year – just need to check batteries for the lights.

Director / Administration Reports

Bill Baar, Orchestra Director– Orchestra enrollment is about the same as last year. Chamber Orchestra will be having about one concert per month as last year at different locations. ISU/U of I trip is February 8-9th. Planning on attending a CSO concert - looking at a November date. Last springs concert is on CD and will be sending it to duplicate it and sell. We will be participating in the Grammy in the School program. Looking to grow the harp group by offering a class for interested students.

Ron Fiorito, Band Director–For the first performance the band did great - Everyone is working hard. There are 125 students. We moved to AAA since the band has grown in numbers - it will be a good challenge. Thank you to the Baptist Church and to Pam Nelsen and to everyone who helped moved equipment back and forth. Will need to update all e-mails with new students. Pictures are Saturday 9/1 at 4:30pm – will need the uniforms moved to the field – order forms are in the band room.

Treasurer’s Report - Sandy presented the report. 1/3 of band fees have not been paid. Ron will talk with those students and hand out reminder notes.

There are many students who need to make the next Sugar Bowl payment.

Purchase of a Bass Drum Stand was approved for $789.95 – Ron will order

EGIMA available funds as of August 2012 - $31,414.93

Upcoming Events - 9/8 Lancer Joust:call 8am – performance 1:45pm, awards 5:30pm, finals after that– will provide a late lunch after performance.

9/14 Home Football Game –Junior High Night: will have pizza for jr. high students starting at 5:00pm.

9/15 Mattress Sale:

9/16 Grayslake: call 9am – performance 1:30pm, awards 2:30pm – will eat on bus on way – bagged lunch.

9/22Wheeling: call 3pm – performance 8pm, awards 10:15pm – will eat at 5:15pm at school before getting on bus.

9/28 Home Football game -Homecoming

Old Business-Christmas Trees: – will ask Al Broduer to assist with Charlie and Gary –Trees will be delivered on November 17th or 18th. Sale will start on November 23rd.

Barnes and Noble/Fuddruckers Coordinator: try for 12/15/12

Spirit wear: placed order for show shirts – 147. Pam is designing new logo for spirit wear- will put on website soon.

New Business- Cheesecakes: Brochures will be delivered on 10/9 and sent home. Debbie wants to have some incentive gifts for students who sell so many cheesecakes. She will donate some items for this. Orders will be due on 11/2 with delivery on 11/13.

EG Letters for jackets: Want to have an order sheet with options the students can get – this comes out of band budget so want to order what the students want instead of ordering for everyone and not everyone wants.

Carson’s Days: Books are ready for pick up on 9/10 – sale is second weekend in November.

Open Discussion: Looking into selling cookies at football games and on Thursdays in the am – can we sell Starbucks with cookies? Jamba Juice at football games?

Make announcement to school on days of Wendy’s dine n share to further promote to student body.
