Secretary’s Report: The September minutes were reviewed and approved with a motion by Mrs. Toledo that was seconded by Mrs. Taylor.

Treasurer’s Report: A copy of the budget for the 2009-2010 school year and the treasurer’s report is included with this email.

  • It is important to note that the savings account is for Mrs. Meek to use to make purchases for the library.
  • Some changes made to the budget include an increase in the amount set aside for field trips and speakers for the school year. Second, fourth and fifth graders take a field trip already each year and a discussion took place about the possibility of a field trip for the remaining grades.
  • Treasurer’s reports were approved with a motion by Mrs. Taylor that was seconded by Mrs. Toledo.

  • Munchers
  • Report made by JoAnn Melandry
  • Tara Chapman, Tiffany McConahay and Lisa Landis were thanked for their assistance during September’s munchers day.
  • The next date for Munchers is November 9, 2009.
  • Room Parents
  • Report made by JoAnn Melandry
  • As of 10-14-09 every classroom has a room parent.
  • Dates of holiday parties were discussed as well as the times.
  • Box Tops and Capri Sun
  • Report by Jackie Goudy
  • As of 10-14-09 we have collected over 4000 box tops with more coming in everyday.
  • The winning class will have popcorn and drink party.
  • Mrs. Carlson’s class is currently in the lead.

Principal’s Report

  • Made by Mrs. Toledo who relayed a message of thanks from the teachers for the work of the PTO on the nights of Parent\Teacher conferences.
  • Homework help night is on the 20th of October from 6pm until 7:30. There will be several sessions that are designed to help parents guide their children as they do their homework.

  • Made by Mrs. Taylor who also relayed a message of thanks from the teachers.

Old Business

  • Walk-a-thon
  • We raised 2068.74 in profit alone.
  • Several local businesses and companies made donations to be used as incentives and\or prizes.
  • Sedalia Food Center
  • Eastland Lanes

  • Graphic Tees
  • Ava Myers in Mrs. Ottman’s first grade class was grand prizewinner.
  • The classroom of each winner is going to make a thank you card to give to the company that donated that prize.
  • Overall the Walk-a-thon was enjoyed by the students and adults who participated.
  • DQ Night
  • We made $65.83 that night.
  • The next is scheduled for March 10, 2010, which is also the night of the PTO meeting for the month. We discussed having meeting at DQ.
  • Skating Party
  • Mrs. Imwalle and Mrs. Toledo were there.
  • We raised $78.50
  • The next event is scheduled for February 11, 2010.
  • Spirit T-Shirt Sale
  • Because of the problems with the previous company we will now be using Graphic Tees in Groveport.
  • We will continue selling the shirts through out the school year. The next order will go in before the end of 2009.
  • PTO booth during conferences
  • We made $36.82 selling popcorn. Some of the popcorn and boxes were donated by the Groveport Youth Athletic Association.

New Business

  • Gum Ball\Candy Machine in teacher’s lounge
  • Manager at Sedalia food mart is willing to place a machine filled with some bulk candy in the school. The PTO will receive part of the profit from the machine.
  • This will cost nothing for the school.
  • Mrs. Taylor will present the idea to the teachers and let us know their feelings.
  • Bowling league at Eastland Lanes
  • Each student that wishes to bowl would pay $8 each Saturday. This money would cover two or three games depending on age, one slice of pizza, cup of drink and shoes.
  • The league would last between two and three months.
  • After some discussion it was decided that many parents would not be interested in this, but we may still offer the option to parents.
  • Santa shop
  • Will be using the company Fun Service.
  • We will make 10% of the profits.
  • They will be providing an inflatable to use during field day.
  • The Santa shop takes place the second week of December beginning with breakfast with Santa on December 6, 2009.
  • Market Day Sale
  • Cost the school nothing to sign up
  • Requires no door-to-door selling
  • Offers low cost and tasty food products that parents can purchase while at the same time make money for the school.
  • Considering sending out brochure to parents to see how many would be interested in the idea.

Upcoming Events

  • The 30th is birthday treat day
  • November 5 is flyers day
  • November 9 is the next munchers

Extras

  • Jackie Goudy suggested planning an event for mothers and sons\fathers and daughters.
  • Some suggestions were muffins and coffee with mom or donuts and coffee with dad.
  • Gocrusiers.com with have pictures and other information from the walk-a-thon as well as copies of the October minutes for those who are interested.

Next meeting is November 11, 2009, which is the 2nd Wednesday at 6pm in the school library.
