Purpose and Objective of AIChE-Ohio State Chapter Awards Program

The AIChE–Ohio State Chapter Awards Program is intended to provide a mechanism for CBE students to be recognized for outstanding performance in support of the missions of AIChE and the Department of Chemical Engineering, reflecting university core values and going above and beyond their duties in the areas of Distinguished Community Outreach, Exemplary Service, and Outstanding Support of Undergraduate Education.

AIChE's Vision is to Provide Value as:

§  A Global Leader of the chemical Engineering profession,

§  A Lifetime Center for professional & personal growth, and security of chemical engineers,

§  A Catalyst in applying chemical engineering expertise in meeting societal needs.

AIChE Mission:

§  Promote excellence in chemical engineering education and global practice

§  Advance the development and exchange of relevant knowledge

§  Uphold and advance the profession's standards, ethics and diversity

§  Enhance the lifelong career development and financial security of chemical engineers through products, services, networking, and advocacy

§  Stimulate collaborative efforts among industry, universities, government, and professional societies

§  Encourage other engineering and scientific professionals to participate in AIChE activities;

§  Advocate public policy that embraces sound technical and economic information and that represents the interest of chemical engineers

§  Facilitate public understanding of technical issues; and

§  Achieve excellence in operations of the Institute.

CBE’s Vision: The William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering will provide an outstanding educational experience to students and serve the profession and society by creating new knowledge through cutting-edge disciplinary and interdisciplinary research, and disseminating this knowledge to industry, government, the scientific community and the general public. This new knowledge will consist of, but not be limited to, peer-reviewed publications, materials, processes, systems, software and other work products that will enhance societal quality of life. We will also create a learning environment that fosters diversity in teaching, scholarship and personnel practices.

CBE’s Mission:

§  To instill in our students an appreciation of, and the necessity for, life-long learning, team work and to provide them the skills to prosper in a global economy.

§  To create a learning environment that fosters diversity in scholarship, teaching and in student, faculty and staff composition.

§  To create new knowledge in the field of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering through cutting-edge research and pass this new knowledge on to our students, our profession, and society in general.

§  To educate undergraduate and graduate students in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and foster cross-fertilization of allied fields.

§  To serve the public, academic, industrial and government communities through consultation, collaborative efforts, entrepreneurial activity, dissemination of research results and outreach activities.

·  Nominees must be students in the CBE program.

·  Award winners may not be re-nominated the following year.

·  Rollover nominations are not accepted. All nominees should be re-nominated in order to be considered for future award cycles.
