A. COURSE DESCRIPTION
Successful Adulthood: Surviving and Thriving is a one-semester course designed to provide students with information and skills in making decisions as they transition from high school to college, job, and or career. Emphasis is on communication skills, understanding self, leisure activities, etiquette, personal safety, understanding grief and loss, making healthy food choices, and food preparation.
B. METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
This class will include unit tests, hands-on activities, labs, lectures, and class participation.

F. GRADING PLAN
Grading will be on total points: the larger/more difficult the project/assignment, the more it is worth. Effort, class participation and class behavior will also be noted and accounted for when grading papers. Papers can be made up within 2 weeks of an absence. After the two weeks, a zero will be given for the paper or test.
G. CLASSROOM RULES OF CONDUCT
  1. RESPECT – for me, for you and for the classroom equipment.
  2. ARRIVE IN CLASS ON TIME WITH ALL NEEDED SUPPLIES.
  3. NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN CLASSROOM AT ANYTIME.
  4. NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES—NOT LIMITED TO BUT INCLUDING CELL PHONES, IPODS, DVD PLAYERS, ETC.
  5. ABSOLUTELY NO BATHROOM/DRINK BREAKS. YOU HAVE TIME BETWEEN CLASSES TO DO THIS.
  6. NAME, DATE AND CLASS PERIOD ON ALL PAPERS. (I will deduct points for this information NOT being on the papers.)
  7. NO LEANING BACK IN CHAIRS.
  8. PAPERS TURNED IN ON TIME. IF NOT, 10 POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FOR EVERY DAY IT IS LATE.
SAFETY!
When in the kitchen areas or working with the sewing machines, clothing with chains or other loose hanging objects will not be permitted.
100% on Safety Tests prior to labs will be required.
