Reflective Essay: 2-4 pages, this piece addresses the experience of completing the project and will cover what you perceive to the highs and lows of the experience, along with some consideration of what you would do differently and how you might use what you have learned in this experience in the future situations where teamwork is necessary.
Due Dates.
December 5th. A group discussion will take place in class. Please take notes and begin to brainstorm on ideas for your essay. Take note of where you agree with your teammates and where you disagree. This can be in outline format or a web of ideas and directions. This will be turned in and graded for completion. This prewriting process is worth 5pts.
December 7and 8th . We will go as a class to the computer lab and begin to process our ideas in a Word document. A rough draft will be completed by the end of our second trip to the computer lab. Again, this is a completion grade but I will be coming around to check on progress and paper structure. This initial writing part is worth 15 points.
December 12th. A revised draft is due at the beginning of class. I expect the revisions done inside of the word processor and to not only be printed off but emailed to me as well. Please read your writing aloud to yourself to help in editing and finding simple mistakes. This revising section is worth 10 points.
December 14th. With revisions done by your own red pen, please email your assigned partner as well as me, a copy of your clean paper in word format. This section is focused on helping each other out. Peer editing is key to this process and you will be graded on how well you use the processor to make corrections and email back the document. This editing section is worth 10 points.
*Editing is to be done inside of the Word document on the computer. Track changes are to be made in color and will allow for you to practice using technology that will help you throughout your education career and beyond. Examples of this are hyperlinked under writing on the website and if you cant remember “how to” from our discussion in class, there is a link to a great web support under resources on our webpage.
December 19th. A clean copy is due on my desk at the start of class. I will be grading for depth of analysis and thought as well as how the paper progressed from initial brainstorming to the final publishable product. The final paper is worth 20 points.
