Profibus Description
Typical Profibus Connection
Description
/ The CRP 811 00 is a class 1 PROFIBUS DP master that is implemented according to the PROFIBUS specification EN 50 170 and fully compliant with this open standard. The openness of PROFIBUS DP allows for a heterogeneous network design. The advantage for the user is that he has a free choice on components used within this network. Schneider’s PROFIBUS DP master will establish a communication link to any compliant PROFIBUS DP slave device.
The tools that are currently used to configure PROFIBUS require a certain directory structure. The directories are set up as follows:
<drive>:\<directory name>\<station name>
The directories are set up such that the root directory (<directory name>) identifies the site from which you are working at. The subdirectories (<station name>) are individual PLC’s within that site. You may have multiple PLC’s within a given site, therefore, multiple subdirectories could exist within each root directory.
In this example the site we are working at <directory name> is called ASAPLANT and the PLC <station name> at the site will be labeled Pb_st01. Hence, this can be rewritten as follows:
<drive>:\ASAPLANT\Pb-St01
The terms used are provided only as an example. You may use any terms you wish when creating and labeling folders.
Configure a Quantum Controller
Objective
/ The following procedure explains how to configure the I/O map of a Quantum controller with ProWorX NxT.Note: Refer to ProWorx NxT Programming Software User Guide for explicit instructions.
Procedure
/ To create a new project in ProWorx NxT, perform the following actions:Step / Action
1 / Launch ProWorx NxT.
2 / Create a new project
3 / Configure the Configuration Extension to at least 1K (1024 bytes).
4 / Select Configuration from the title bar, then select Traffic Cop (or use the icon on the toolbar).
5 / Configure your module in Traffic Cop.
6 / Exit from ProWorx NxT.
This completes creation of a new database in ProWorx NxT. The next step is to create the ASAPLANT folder with the Windows-Explorer.
Create an ASAPLANT Folder
Objective
/ In this step you will create an ASAPLANT folder in Windows Explorer from which to export and import the database.Procedure

4 / Repeat this action for each slave in your configuration.
5 / For each modular PROFIBUS slave double click the slave icon S on the main screen and the Slave Configuration window appears.
6 / At the Slave Configuration window perform the following:
- Locate your module in the Module window.
- Double click on necessary modules. The selection appears in the table below.
7 / Click OK.
You must repeat steps 5, 6 and 7 for every modular slave in your configuration. For further information on modular vs. non-modular slaves please refer to the SyCon documentation.

1x00001-1x00017 bits input
0x00001-0x00017 bits output
If Int appears (is selected) under the Type box the SPU931 is mapping the inputs and outputs to 3x and 4x registers respectively:
Example:
3x00001- 3x00001 1 word input
4x00001- 4x00001 1 word output
The mandatory PROFIBUS diagnostic registers are always 3xyyyyy registers.
