MEMORANDUM FOR: 2008 10th Brigade Certification and Training Workshop Attendees
SUBJECT: Memorandum of Instruction (MOI) for 10th Brigade Certification and Training Workshop 4 – 8 August 2008
1. 10th Brigade will conduct a Certification and Training Workshop 4 – 8 August 2008 at the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, MO (Encl 4). 4 and 8 August are travel days. 5, 6, and 7 August are training days. We will conduct certification courses for marksmanship and rappelling and professional development training in JUMS, JCIMS, Classroom Automation, Inspections, Reports, Web Portal, etc. The training schedule is attached at Enclosure 1. We will issue certificates for all of these.
2. Persons attending the workshop are listed at Enclosure 2. If your name does not appear, it is because you were not funded this year but will be funded for an upcoming year. Some schools will be sending more than one instructor because of circumstances that require it. If you are within driving distance you are welcome to attend at your own expense and you will receive credit. All instructors attending the workshop will be required to become certified in rappelling, marksmanship, or both. We will have optional activities on the days that you are not involved in marksmanship or rappel certification training. Invitational Travel Orders will be issued from this headquarters NLT 30 June. We will have travel vouchers at the Operations Center and you should file your settlement before you leave.
3. We have a reserved a block of rooms for the workshop. You must call and reserve a room (must be guaranteed with a credit card) NLT 5 JULY 2008. Hotel Information and directions are at Enclosure 4. Make sure you tell the reservations clerk that you are with the 10th Brigade Instructor Certification and Training Workshop so you will get the correct rate. If you have special needs, coordinate directly with the hotel. Early checkouts are not authorized.
4. If you are listed as an instructor, please contact Barry or Scott to make sure we didn’t forget to coordinate anything. A summary of what each class covers is at Enclosure 3. Feel free to comment/suggest changes or add to the menu. The classroom training will be on site. Hands on rappelling will be done at the Missouri State University ROTC tower approximately 3 blocks from the convention center.
5. Audio and visual equipment, Internet access, and classroom setup will be done by the convention center. You will need to provide handouts, PowerPoint files, etc that you intend to use. We will have print and copy capability in the Operations Center. If you have any special requirements for your class please bring them yourself or let us know so we can accommodate you.
6. Rappelling equipment will be provided by Clinton High School (MAJ King). Marksmanship equipment will be provided by Ozark High School (LTC McConnell). Risk assessments will be done on each day of training by the primary instructor. Primary instructors should coordinate any equipment issues with Brigade and we will assist as required.
