History
Brief, one paragraph / The College of Alameda has offered the Private Pilot Ground School, AVIAO 10, over the last six years. The purpose of this course is to prepare the student for the FAA knowledge examinations. In the Fall of 2007 an additional course offering was added, Commercial/Instrument Ground School, AVIAO 12. This is the next higher level of training as required by the FAA for pilots. These courses are offered at the main campus in the evening each one night a week.

Present evidence of community need based on Advisory Committee input, industry need data, McIntyre Environmental Scan, McKinsey Economic Report, etc. This applies primarily to career-technical (i.e., vocational programs). / Flight training continues to grow as a need for pilots in all phases of the aviation industry rises. These two ground school courses fulfill a community need for basic ground instruction.

ACTION PLAN -- Include overall plans/goals and specific action steps. AVIAO 10 has maintained a consistent student enrollment over the past several years. With the addition of AVIAO 12 there will be an increase in enrollment as both course offering compliment each other. The distribution of flyers at all of the flight schools in addition to our CATS testing center will advertise our offerings in these areas.
