Germany 1918-1939: Using Sources

Before your visit

o  Make sure that members of staff have a map of the site and the staff notes (below). They must know the time and location of their teaching session.

o  Have a look at our Home Front museum trail to find out more about IWM Duxford’s Second World War collections. You can print and copy it for the students to use, or just use it as a source of ideas to structure your visit.

o  Remember to bring payment and your entry ticket with you on the day.

Your session

The session will last for an hour and a half and will be based on an enquiry question of your choice – please contact Alison Giles on or 01223 497206 to discuss your question. The introduction will look at how to use a range of sources and the difference between describing, explaining and analysing a source. There will then be time for students to work with a wide range of sources, including photographs, letters, propaganda posters, legal documents, artefacts and interviews. The focus of the workshop will be on linking sources closely to the question.
