Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 27, 2011. Hansgrohe AG, the leading manufacturer of bathroom fittings and showerheads, was credited for its innovative designs at the Construction Week Awards 2011, held at The Westin in Dubai last month. The Etihad Towers project, for which Hansgrohe supplied its Focus S mixers, a range of wash basin, bath tub and shower mixers known for its simple, elegant design and functionality, was awarded GCC Tower Project of the year.

In addition, Axor, the designer brand of Hansgrohe AG, will be presented with the prestigious 2012 German Design Award in Gold in February 2012. The prize will be awarded for the Axor Bouroullec collection mixers, designed for Axor by French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

Dirk Schilmoeller, Marketing Manager Middle East & North Africa, commented: “With our designer brand Axor we create “Designer Visions for Your Bathroom". Thanks to the unique collaboration with internationally renowned product designers, architects and interior designers including Philippe Starck, Antonio Citterio, Jean-Marie Massaud, Patricia Urquiola, the Bouroullec brothers and Phoenix Design, many of the brand’s collections have reached iconic status in bathroom design such as the Axor Bouroullec collection that has been specially praized this year.”

Having received its premier prize for design in 1974, Hansgrohe AG has since gained several hundred awards and accolades. This year, the global bathroom fittings and showerheads manufacturer has been able to reaffirm its position and soar to number 11 among the 1,900 companies listed on the International Forum Design corporate rankings.

Outstanding design and growing demand

For Hansgrohe, good design is never complete - instead, it simply fulfils its purpose. 2010 was a record year for Hansgrohe, and demand for products from Schiltach continues to grow, whilst turnover is increasing both in Germany and abroad.

Hansgrohe has been awarded countless awards, with the trophy collection of the internationally successful SME having grown to 373 prizes this year, confirming the outstanding design skills of the company and its creative partners.

The silver award of the “Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany” went to Hansgrohe AG for the second time in a row in 2011. From the approximate 1,500 products nominated for one of the 25 “Prizes of Prizes”, the jury decided on the wall-mounted wash basin from the Axor Urquiola collection.

Hansgrohe has won many awards for their impeccable work and the Middle East is no exception. The company has worked on numerous prestigious projects in the region, including Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Marina Towers in Beirut and the Clock Tower in Mecca.
