Job Title:Finance Officer

Location:London

Hours:Part Time - 1 day per week

Salary:£27,000 - £29,000 pro-rata

Reports to:Business & Operations Manager

Purpose:To assist the Business & Operations Manager in theadministration, the control, the management and the reporting of Attitude is Everything’s financial transactions and accounts

Closing Date:5pm on Monday 6th September

Attitude is Everything improves Deaf and disabled people's access to live music by working in partnership with audiences, artists and the music industry to implement a Charter of Best Practice across the UK.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Financial Administration

  • Processing salaries and other payments, preparing relevant cheques or transfers, ensuring authorisation and dispatch
  • Reconciling payroll accounts, supplier statements etc
  • Liaising with HMRC and other agencies as required
  • Claiming tax relief on Gift Aid
  • Bank, cheque, direct debit and petty cash administration
  • Ensure relevantcomputerised and paper-based filing systems are kept to a high standard

Financial Control

  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly
  • Advise Business & Operations Manager on financial control, to ensure that financial controls are suitable and implemented correctly.

Financial Management

  • Assist Business & OperationsManager in preparation of annual budgets
  • Manage cash to maximise interest earned where possible

Accounting and Reporting

  • Entering all transactions onto QuickBooks software.
  • Prepare management accounts in the form of quarterly financial reports to Board and an annual financial report for all funders.
  • Ensure that accounting system is set up to monitor and report on all relevant financial management requirements, eg fund accounting, project accounts, grant accounts, activity reports; and prepare such reports as required.
  • Implement year-end procedures; prepare draft statutory accounts and audit file; liaise with auditors.
  • Contribute to the content and presentation of the statutory annual trustees' report.

Miscellaneous

  • Other tasks as directed by the Chief Executive Officer

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Bookkeeping experience
  • Knowledge of computer accounting based systems
  • Experience of QuickBooks accounting software
  • Excellent numeracy and financial awareness
  • Good computer literacy with a good knowledge of Windows and especially Excel and Word
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Methodical approach and ability to maintain accurate and transparent data systems
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • A willingness to learn new skills as systems and needs develop

Desirable

  • Experience of charitable financial management
  • Knowledge of Full Cost Recovery
  • Online banking experience
  • Ability to set up new financial systems

Terms and Conditions:

This is a part-time post (1 day per week). Hours of work are 10am to 5.30pm. You may occasionally be expected to work outside these hours; for example to attend a quarterly board of trustee meeting. Extra hours worked will be compensated for by time off in lieu (TOIL). Flexible working arrangements will be considered

Annual Holidays and Holiday Pay:

Holiday working entitlement is 5 days per year plus public holidays on a pro-rata basis. In addition you are entitled to paid leave on any normal working day that falls between December 25th and January 1st each year.
