PRESS RELEASE

Korntal-Münchingen, 21 March 2012

Mobile phone technology in the greenteQ alarm window handle with air conditioning function

VBH paving the way for new technologies

The greenteQ window handle with an alarm and air conditioning function and integrated glass break detection brings all the technology together in the handle. With the innovative simplicity of the technology, the easy assembly and easy operation, the greenteQ window handle thus complements the product portfolio of the proprietary brand perfectly. VBH is presenting the solution to international specialists for the first time at fensterbau/frontale. The first products will already be available by the middle of the year.

In their search for innovations, the experts in window and door fittings at VBH regularly think outside the box of their industry. They do so because completely new product solutions for window and door manufacturers can frequently be found by combining new technologies, e.g. from the telecommunication and automobile industry. Two innovations are almost ready for delivery and will be presented at fensterbau/frontale for the first time: a greenteQ window handle with an integrated alarm and air conditioning function, and a house door drive without a visible stay arm in an extremely compact design.

“We frequently deal with new technologies in order to detect and promote advantages and areas of use for the window and door industry at an early stage,” reports Markus Röser, Head of Category Management at VBH. “Electronics that have already been tried and tested millions of times in mobile phones are being used in our new VDS-certified greenteQ alarm window handle with an air conditioning function. This combination allows important functions to be accommodated in a very small space and in an aesthetic form – and all at a reasonable price.”

Alarm window handle with an air conditioning function

The new greenteQ window handle from VBH integrates the entire alarm and air conditioning technology in the rosette – including a commercially available ½ AA battery, a 3D movement sensor and an air conditioning sensor. If the glass is broken or the window shattered, a clear, acoustic warning signal is given (110 to 115 dB). If the air humidity is too high, a luminous ring signals the need for ventilation. Further advantages lie in the easy assembly, the easy operation and the ease with which batteries can be replaced. All existing windows can be easily and quickly retrofitted by replacing the handles. By closing the window (handle in six o’clock position), the alarm is automatically activated and confirmed by means of a signal tone. When the window is opened, the alarm is automatically deactivated. The low amount of space required for mobile phone technology also allows an almost uniform appearance with handles from the existing greenteQ window handle range.

The VDS-tested greenteQ window handle is likely to be available from VBH from August onwards in a stainless steel design. Further forms and designs will follow. “We are currently responding to customer reactions and are still taking into consideration requirements and suggestions in programming before we start delivery,” states Markus Röser.

New house door drive exclusively from VBH

The second innovation originally comes from the automobile industry: a door drive in a compact design with an operating voltage of 12 V, which is integrated into the door wing without a visible stay arm and is compatible with the power supply from electromotive locks, door openers and access controls. The drive operates almost inaudibly and can be activated via push & go, a manual radio transmitter, a movement sensor or a card reader. The control unit is installed in the frame profile in such a way that it is concealed. The compact design is made possible by less complex components and an innovative design. The house door drive will be available exclusively from VBH at the end of the year.
