JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance and Enhancement Manager (QAE Manager)
REPORTING TO:
Director of Academic Programmes (DAP) in respect of the development and management of the College’s quality assurance and enhancement procedures in association with faculty and departmental personnel.
College President in respect of research into and coordination of projects arising from the College’s Academic and Professional Council (APC).
HOURS OF WORK: 9.00am – 5.30pm
Additional hours as may be required on occasion in line with the needs of the service.
Overall Responsibilities:
Initiate and lead the development of the College’s QAE practices and procedures through informed assimilation of, and reflection on emerging quality developments, both nationally and internationally.
- Ensure that the College’s quality standards conform with best practice nationally and internationally; that they at all times meet the requirements of the external agencies validating the programmes; and where possible exceed stated threshold requirements through enhanced and exemplary practices
- Manage the development and implementation of the College’s quality assurance and enhancement policies and procedures in association with the College’s senior academic management team.
- Advise and support senior academic managers on the management and advancement of the College’s QAE policies and procedures
- Provide advice and guidance to academic teaching and administrative staff on the implementation of the College’s QAE policies and procedures
- Play a central management role in the College’s internal and external reviews by quality assurance agencies (e.g. re-engagement, institutional reviews, curricular reviews, delegated authority reviews)
- Carry out research projects and prepare reports in relation to academic matters arising from the College’s Academic and Professional Council as directed by the College’s President.
Indicative Component responsibilities:
- Prepare reports and related information for communication to external validating and accreditation agencies, for example in respect of internal reviews, institutional reviews, etc.
- Audit and oversee the College’s implementation of QAE policies and procedures
- Conduct regular qualitative and quantitative research in relation to the College’s QAE performance indicators as required.
- Actively engage with the College’s academic staff at all levels in relation to the design, operation and enhancement of the College’s QAE policies and procedures
- Advance proposals for the future development of the College’s QAE policies and procedures
- Monitor national and international developments in relation to QAE
- Attend and participate at related conferences on behalf of the College.
- Coordinate with other senior academic administrative staff in relation to College publications – e.g. learner handbook, lecturer handbook, administrative calendar, etc.
- Prepare an annual departmental report in respect of QAE
- Be alert to situations and behaviour which may result in a breach of the College’s QAE policies.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time.

Advanced research and report writing capabilities to meet the expectations of audiences within higher education external agencies, both nationally and internationally.
- Preparing and maintaining all records, reports and files in accordance with agreed procedures
- Ability to communicate complex information in an effective, concise and tactful manner, both orally and in writing
- Ability to organise and manage projects successfully to completion setting and delivering on clear and effective objectives against which work can be planned
- Ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with a range of colleagues throughout the College
- The ability to develop a network of contacts in other institutions and/or organisations as a basis for identifying points of comparison and good practice elsewhere
- Ability to take significant initiative and to work independently as appropriate.
- The ability to prevent and/or solve problems with flexibility, timeliness and imagination
- Dealing with staff, students and external agencies in a courteous and professional manner.
- Dealing with all information relating to activities undertaken and information received in the strictest confidence.
- Complying with campus policies and procedures in relation to health and safety and data protection regulations.

Qualifications:
- Candidates are expected to have previous experience of designing and implementing quality assurance systems inIrish higher education.
- Candidates are expected to have excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Candidates are likely to hold third level qualifications at level 9 or above
- Candidates with equivalent relevant experience and qualifications will be considered
