Ankeny Junior Football Participants;

Welcome to another exciting year of Ankeny Junior Football. We are pleased to provide the best facilities in the State and our mature AJF organization to offer participants the greatest value for their youth football experience. We are fortunate to have our kids play at our first class facility thanks to the City of Ankeny, taxpayers, contributors and participants.

Let me point out the highlights of the 2009 season.

  • There will be no registration fee increase. The initial cost to participate will remain the same as it was last year.
  • UPDATED AND IMPROVED WEBSITE! We will continue to communicate to participants, parents, coaches and volunteers thru our website at . We encourage you to visit us on-line and take advantage of all the new features it will provide.
  • New this year! On-line Registration!
  • This year we will play grade ball for 5th, 6th and 7th grade. There will no longer be a lightweight and heavyweight division. All participants in these age groups will play within their specific grade. Players in 6th and 7th grade, who wish to “play down” a grade based upon weight, will be allowed.
  • Please note the following equipment change. For grades 4th through 7th, AJF will no longer be providing football pants. All participants will have the opportunity to purchase previously used football pants (and pads to go in the pants) at the registration/weigh-in times, but this option will only be available while supplies last. If you choose to purchase pants on your own, keep in mind that we will only ALLOWWHITE pants to be worn on game days.

Fundraising, once more will be a vital focus of our activities to help keep costs down. Our AJF raffle and the sale of AJF clothing were both successful last year. We have similar fundraising events planned for the 2009 season. The proceeds from the fundraising are 100% put back into the junior football program.

The 8th Annual Post Season Bowl Tournament will be held October 17-18. The event will be a tournament with visiting teams for each grade 4th through 7th. Each age group will have two all-star teams selected from players in the leagues.

Regular season games will be played on Sunday afternoons. We try to limit the number of kids per team to a low number so every participant gets plenty of playing time. If for one of the leagues our participant numbers dictate an odd number of teams, we reserve the possibility of playing one game on a Saturday. We have reserved Saturdays for weather-related makeup dates.

The success of the AJF program is the result of volunteer efforts. Please volunteer for a position or simply help your child’s coach to make things run smooth. Ankeny Junior Football continues to strive for each athlete to have a safe and memorable experience in our program by focusing our efforts on providing the best coaching, officiating, equipment and facilities available.

Please review the information and schedule outlined on the top portion of the reverse side of this page. Also, please don’t hesitate to contact me or other Board Members if you have questions or comments and be sure to check out ourwebsite: .
