Space may be limited and all applications will not necessarily be accommodated. Please share any notes below that may assist us with the matching process. This may include past interaction with a particular host organization, your top host choice, etc.
______
Transportation
Once matched, the host and student(s) will decide on a career exploration date in the month of March until April 10th that will accommodate both parties. Transportation will need to be provided to the job shadow site by the student. Job sites will be located within 50 miles of Lawrence including the Kansas City area, Topeka, and Ottawa. Mileage will be reimbursed to students who submit both a signed host form and a W-9 to the School of Business within 30 days of their job shadow date. Options such as carpooling and the K-10 Connector may also be an option for student transportation. Documentation regarding program participation will be provided by the BCSC to share with instructors, but students are individually responsible for making arrangements with their instructors for classes missed, and will be held accountable to stated class attendance policies.
Host Preferences & Rankings
The purpose of the Jayhawks on the Job program is to enable students to explore potential career paths. Accordingly, we will make every effort to assign students to a host aligning with their specific preferences. We encourage students to be open to a range of host options. In order to assist us in matching you with a business host, please rank each of the following host options by interest level. Some company visits/shadowing experiences will accommodate multiple areas of interest, and are noted according to the host’s area(s) of expertise. We will try to match your interests as best we can but cannot guarantee your choices. The more options you select, the better the chance of a match with one of them. Also, many of the organizations listed have multiple hosts, with a number of available spots. Please note, that some companies, due to privacy reasons, hold more of a company visit/tour rather than a specific job shadow experience. We have found both experiences to be of value.
Mandatory Match Meeting
If you are matched with a Host/Organization, you will be contacted by the BCSC by email and expected to attend a mandatory match meeting either on Thursday, February 19th at 1 p.m. or Friday, February 20th at 10 a.m.
Please see other side for Company Options:
