  1. Judy Pincus called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
  2. Sherri Franzman made a motion to approve the October 4, 2016 minutes that were posted on the website. Michelle Merchant seconded the motion. Motion approved.

  5. Booster Club successfully completed the goal of having tables with apparel at Incoming Freshman openhouse, freshman alcohol forum, all home football games and Law/Foran Thanksgiving Day Game.
  6. Athlete of the month – Needs more work. Judy Pincus to work with VJ over the coming months to have this ready as a new program for the 2017-2018 school year.
  7. First season Concession stand in the Field house is complete and was a success. Next steps: Lisa Pratcher to order Popcorn Machine to be purchased by the Booster Club before for Basketball Season.
  1. The Executive Board meet in November. Discussion about making an impact this year, Booster club wants to give something back. Judy Pincus to send the request form to VJ for coaches to make team requests.
  2. Vice President’s Report(Michelle Merchant)
  3. Booster club has sold approximately $9100 in apparel to date. Approximately $5600 was expenses. Apparel has resulted in approximately 38% profit. Since Oct 4, 2016, $7600 in apparel was sold. Result of successful October campaign (Freshman Alcohol Forum, Football games).
  4. New Items requested include headband, long sleeve t-shirt, crew neck for ladies, bucket hat and polo shirt.
  5. Thanksgiving football game resulted in 67 t-shirtssold. Additional shirts were bought from Foran to meet demand. Next year increase quantity.
  6. Michelle Merchant gave an update on LawNation. She showed a rough design of a potential shirt style. The program will launch for the 2017-2018 school year. Students can purchase a Law Nation T-Shirt for $25. This shirt will give the student free admission to most home games. Exceptions will be identified. Currently working with community businesses for sponsorship.

  2. Financial Report/Cash Position was passed out. Booster has made approximately $3000 in concessions. The apparel number on the sheet will increase after Michelle Merchant’s deposit. Currently have $9000 in bank. Need to identify athletic needs to disperse funds. Since the club is new, work this year to establish a budget for next year. Identify what to contribute to: senior sports banquet/coaches team request, put some money back into concessions, two scholarships (one for a male one for a female) etc.

  2. Membership Status Bridget Lawless indicated there are 93 members (9 coaches, 2 faculty).
  3. Judy Pincus indicated that Maria Arnold will work with membership list to call members, welcome them and educate them on the volunteer opportunities.
  4. Concessions – Booster club needs to work closer with Key Club for volunteers. Need a Student ambassador / liason to reach out to the students for volunteer opportuntieies. Contact Angela Intellisano for Interact students that need volunteer hours. Suggest free Booster Club t-shirt launched by cheerleaders/athletes into the bleachers at the next pep rally in January to raise booster club awareness. Coordinate with VJ.

  1. Athletic Director Update (VJ)
  2. 6 fall teams qualified for state tournaments. This is up from 3 last year. 100% of all athletes remained academically eligible for the season.
  3. VJ indicated identifying how many 3 season 4 Year varsity athletes there are each year would be extremely time consuming. Statistics can be calculated moving forward to ease this process. A plaque from the booster club for this accomplishment would be appreciated. He noted it would be nice for the Booster Club to sponsor a scholarship or award for a 3 season 4 year athlete. The award could be given at the senior sports banquet for this achievement. A dispersion of funds that could benefit a lot of students would be to fund or partially fund the senior sports banquet. Last year 50-60 seniors attended. The number is expected to go up.
  4. Booster Club would like to award two scholarships to graduating seniors at sports banquet.
  5. Booster Club to coordinate concessions for SCC championshipsgirl’s gymnastics Feb 10, Girls Basketball SCC Semi-Finals Feb 20and Color Guard Feb. 18th.
  6. JLHS Student Athletes who sign letters of intent with Colleges/Universities can be publicized if they so choose. This is a family decision. The student can be publically recognized in the media. VJ to coordinate.
  7. Let’s share some stats….out to the community: how our Fall Sports teams did, their achievements as teams and individuals. VJ indicated that the CT Post and New Haven Register do not usually post individual performances. The Milford Mirror will post more specific information. The coaches/school need to tweet the information for the newspaper to pick it up. Newspapers prefer to re-tweet.
  8. VJ suggested handing out forms to seniors prior to the banquet requesting they fill out the sports that they played and their favorite moment. This can be shared at the banquet.
  9. Membership Forms were handed out to non-members.
