Bereavement Ministry: All Souls Mass
The Bereavement Ministry will host a special Mass for all those who have lost a loved one, and especially those who lost someone this past year, on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:00 am. Please come to celebrate the life of that special person. All are welcome. Light refreshments will follow in the Rectory Basement.
The Bereavement Ministry is a ministry of care. It is open to all parishioners. The primary function of the Bereavement Ministry is to help those who are suffering from the loss of a loved one. Members of this Ministry attend the wake and funeral, to be of assistance to the family. They help set up the Altar for our priests and prepare the readings if the family so wishes. Interested? Call the office for more info at 973-366-0060.
A Big Thank You

A Note from Our Bishop:
“Please save the date - I will be celebrating a Respect Life Mass (was previously called Mass for the Unborn). The Mass will be on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Saint Ann Parish in Parsippany at 10:00 am. This Mass is sponsored by the Paterson Federation Knights of Columbus Councils.Following the Mass, there will be light refreshments.
The Mass is a wonderful way for our faithful to come together in prayer and in mutual support for protecting all of our children - born and unborn.
I hope to see everyone there. God bless.

ALL SAINTS DAY
First Reading: Revelations 7:2-4, 9-14
John recounts for us the details of his vision. An angel bearing the seal of the living God demands that the land and sea not be destroyed; huge crowds stand before the throne of the Lamb crying out that salvation comes from God; angels gathered round and praised God; an elder questions John and explains that those dressed in white are the ones who have survived the great period of trial.
Second Reading: 1 John 3:1-3
Once again John speaks to us of love. He points out to us the great love that the Father has for us by allowing us to be called children of God. John explains that the world doesn't recognize us because it never recognized Jesus. Our future will be revealed to us and in that light we shall see him as he is.
Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12a
When Jesus saw the crowds of people he went up to the mountainside gathered his disciples around him and began to teach them. This lesson in love has come to be known to us as the great "Sermon on the Mount" or "The Beatitudes.”

“HIS WORD TODAY” by Rev. William J. Reilly
All Saints Day
November 1, 2015
“Beloved, see what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called children of God. Yet so we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall become has not been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall become like him, for we shall see him as he is….for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
The day we can call our own. It is ours for we are on the way to heaven, our destiny. It is ours for we can choose the person who models for us the path to holiness. It is ours, for God has called us to a life of holiness.
Our church in this modern era asks us to learn the way of modern saints, as Saint John 23rd or Saint John Paul II. We learn from the holiness of martyrs like Blessed Oscar Romero or the mercy of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.
What made them who they are? They tried to live what Jesus taught. They were people of the Beatitudes. His teaching on the poor, in spirit, those striving for justice, seeking holiness, are the marks we use to see if we are on the path to sainthood.
This is our moment. We have only one life and it calls us to holiness, to be saints. This is our moment to respond and redirect our lives. There is nothing wrong in being a saint.
Birth Parents Must Take Action to Preserve Their Privacy
For well over a century, the Catholic Church in New Jersey has provided adoption services. Throughout all those years, the Church promised to honor the privacy of birth parents and adoptees. That promise of privacy also was assured by law and affirmed by the State Superior Court. Those promises can no longer be kept. On May 27, 2014, a new law took effect that will allow adoptees and certain relatives to request and obtain the names of their biological parents beginning January 1, 2017.
Any birth parents who wish to preserve their privacy must submit a Redaction Request Form to the New Jersey Department of Health no later than December 31, 2016. By filing this form, birth parents will be able to keep their names off any documents provided by the State to adoptees or anyone else. The State made the Redaction Request Form public on August 3, 2015. The form can be downloaded at http://nj.gov/health/forms/reg-36c.pdf
If you know a person who placed a child in adoption, please tell them that if they do not file a Redaction Request Form, their name and other information could be given to the adoptee. Anyone needing assistance can call a HELPLINE AT 609-989-4809.
