How to get to Foggia

If you land in Bari Palese (Airport of Bari), first you should take a train/shuttle bus (it takes about 15 minutes) that will bring you directly to Bari Centrale (railway station). Bari is about a hour and half far from Foggia by train.

If you plan to arrive in Rome (either at the Airport of Fiumicino, also named Leonardo da Vinci, and or at Ciampino), you will take a shuttle bus/train from the airport to Roma Termini (Rome main railway station) and then catch a train to Foggia. You will usually take 3 hours and half to get to Foggia. Either you come from Bari, from Rome or Milan, you may find several train solutions by visiting our domestic railway Web Page: www.trenitalia.com

Accommodation

Most of our international incoming students wish to find a suitable affordable accommodation before their arrival in Foggia; for many of them is their first experience away from home. Our Academy try to help students find private flats to share with other foreign students.

Female students can also opt for a room to share with at least two more ladies at ‘Pia Fondazione Scillitani’, a Catholic Institute managed by nuns. It is located in the city centre, close to the Academy of Fine Arts. A bed in a room to share is about 180,00 euros a month (breakfast is included; students can also use common kitchens).

Health care

All Erasmus students coming from an EU country should bring European Health Insurance Card, which makes possible the access to the National Health Service (NHS), giving students the opportunity to benefit from medical treatment of the Italian citizens.

Insurance

Foreign students must have adequate personal accident and third party liability insurance for the duration of their stay at the Academy of Fine Arts of Foggia. This may be provided by their Home University.

Students already insured must submit a copy of the insurance cover to “Ufficio della Didattica” prior their arrival or at the moment of their registration in Foggia.

Personal accident and third party liability insurances

Please note that all foreign students at the Academy of Fine Arts of Foggia are covered by the Third Party Liability Insurance of the Academy which covers damages caused by the students while studying in the Academy buildings.

Foreign students must also have adequate personal accident insurance covering damages caused to the students while studying at the Academy of Foggia. In this case if the students are not covered by their University, they will have to purchase the personal accident liability insurance.

Italian language courses

The Academy of Fine Arts of Foggia provides Italian language courses to help foreign exchange students through the essential management of the University of Foggia Language Centre – (“Centro Linguistico di Ateneo” - CLA).

These courses are aimed at developing the language skills required for their subsequent studies. On-site courses are provided in the classroom, once your have arrived in Foggia.

The level is to be decided according to the number of the applicants and to their Italian language skills. Usually: beginner, intermediate, advanced.

The courses could be free, but please contact the Erasmus coordinator, Dr. Silvia Visciano () to have a final check about it.
