Investment Analyst

The main responsibilities of this position will be to conduct client projects and assist in alternative investment manager due diligence. The analyst will execute projects by direction of other analysts, the consultants or department head and may act as lead or back-up. The analyst will assist in alternative investment manager interviews and may perform on-site visits with a lead analyst. The analyst will be required to attend monthly Investment Committee meetings.

Job Duties:

  1. Client Projects: Assist or lead in client projects such as investment policy, asset allocation studies, program reviews, manager searches, bundled provider searches, portfolio reviews, and other work affecting client accounts.
  2. Specialty Areas: Assist in a specialty area such as manager due diligence (focus on specific asset category or direct overall activities), 401(k) plans (fee analysis, recordkeeper and bundled provider analysis), major corporate projects (e.g., annuity program review), software specialist (e.g., eVestment, Morningstar, Stylus, Ibbotson), and other areas as defined by consultants or department head.
  3. Manager Due Diligence: The analyst will assist lead analysts in performing all of the following, yet may focus in one or two areas defined by task or asset category.
  • Define Arnerich Massena’s approved manager search list of alternative assets, working closely with other analysts, the department head and consultants.
  • Monitor Arnerich Massena’s approved manager search list and invested managers of alternative assets. Keep list up to date, and inform department head and consultants of watch candidates. Monitor Arnerich Massena’s manager watch list. Inform department head and consultants of status, and recommend action.
  • Carry out and communicate investment manager due diligence activities including finding new managers of alternative assets. Track on-site visits required to meet client commitments and fulfill product evaluation and monitoring. Complete and distribute investment manager due diligence write-ups.
  • Assist in research and presentation of investment manager candidates to the Investment Committee.
  1. Attend client meetings and assist in presentations, as needed.

Experience:

Prefer three to five years of experience and a four-year college degree. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are mandatory as are analytical and research skills. The analyst must have strong organizational skills, and be able to work independently and meet deadlines. Knowledge of portfolio analysis concepts, modern portfolio theory and securities terminology is required. The analyst must have a working knowledge of various computer software applications such as graphics, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Ability to adapt quickly to new software applications must be demonstrated. Ability to interact effectively with clients, investment managers and Arnerich Massena staff is required.
