2013-2014 Presidential Citation

All D5240 Club Presidents should sign and submit form— all requirements completed or not– to D5240 COO John Eichler .

The 2013-2014 Presidential Citation recognizes Rotary clubs for an array of achievements that promote our membership growth, enhance humanitarian service through our Foundation, and strengthen our network through the family of Rotary. D5240 Clubs that do not complete every requirement should still submit the form for consideration as part of District Awards to Clubs.

Avenues of Service Citation
Nominators: Club Presidents
Deadline: Ongoing

This citation program provides a way for Rotary clubs to personally recognize one club member for his or her outstanding efforts in thefive Avenues of Service.A club member must have demonstrated support of the Object of Rotary through active participation in each of the five Avenues of Service: Club, Vocational, Community, International, New Generations.

Nominee must be an active Rotarian and can only receive the award once.

Family and Community Service Award
Nominators: Club Presidents
Deadline: Ongoing

Certificate that Rotary Clubs may confer upon individuals or organizations for outstanding service to families and communities; or may confer upon spouses or family members of Rotarians in recognition of their positive contributions to Rotary clubs. Another way that clubs may celebrate Family Month and promote Rotary in the community. (Go to: shop.rotary.org >Certificates)

Each Rotarian: Reach One, Keep One Award
Nominations: Club Presidents
Deadline:Ongoing

This award allows Rotary club presidents to nominate and recognize individuals for sponsoring new members while focusing on retention. There are several award categories:

l Gold pin and certificate: for Rotarians bringing 25 members into any Rotary club,
with 20 still active after six years l Silver pin and certificate: for Rotarians bringing 10 members into any Rotary club, with 8 still active after four years l Bronze pin and certificate: for Rotarians bringing five members into any Rotary club, with four still active after two years. Certificates and pins may be purchased through Rotary International.

Club Builder Award
Nominators: District Governors
Deadline: Ongoing

This award recognizes Rotarians who have made a significant impact in supporting and strengthening their Rotary clubs. District governors may grant this award to up to10 deserving Rotarians from their district each year. This awardis administered at the district level. Governors can find additional information by visiting the District Governor's Exchange in Member Access .

Rotary Awards (Nominated by Governors, but are for the Clubs, Individual Members)

RI Recognition of Membership Development Initiatives -- MDI
Nominators: District Governors. Governors receive submissions from Clubs.
Deadline: District Governors must receive submissions from clubs by 15 April. RI must receive submission forms from district governors by 15 May.

This district-level certificate recognizes clubs for the development and implementation of a creative plan or strategy to support one of the three primary foundations of membership growth: retention, recruitment of qualified new members, or the organization of new Rotary clubs.

RI Vocational Service Leadership Award

This award recognizesRotarianswho have made a significant impact inadvancing vocational service. District governors may nominate one candidate from their district each year.

The Rotary Foundation District Service Award
Nominators: District Governors
Deadline: Ongoing

Because so many Rotarians serve humanity through Foundation programs, The Rotary Foundation created the District Service Award to recognize their efforts. Each recipient is given a certificate, awarded at the district level.District governors may obtain up to 20 blank certificates at no cost to their district.

Significant Achievement Award
Nominators: District Governors
Deadline: 15 March

Presidential recognition of a club activity which addresses a significant problem or need in the community. A district selects one project and submits nomination to RI. A president-appointed selection committee evaluates nominations.

Recognition of Smaller Club Membership Growth
Nominators: District Governors
Deadline: 16 May - 30June

This district-level award offers an incentive to clubs that fall below the charter requirement of 20 members by recognizing the challenges and achievements of small clubs.

RI Membership Development and Extension Award -- MDEA
Nominators: District Governors
Deadline: Beginning 15 May, district governors submit recognition forms to RI.

This district-level certificate program recognizes membership growth in existing clubs, retention of current club members, and the organization of new clubs. Districts that meet their membership goals are also recognized. Download the nomination form


Service Award for a Polio-Free World
Nominators: Any Rotarian
Deadline: 1 November

This award was established by the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation in order to recognize outstanding contributions to the effort by Rotarians and thereby to encourage final efforts. In geographic areas coinciding with WHO regions, up to ten regional service awards per region are given annually. These awards recognize outstanding service in polio eradication. International Awards, for broad service to the cause of polio eradication, are also made annually, not to exceed ten individuals. Download the nomination form and guidelines

RI Service Above Self Award
Nominators: District Governors, Immediate Past District Governors, Current/Past RI Directors
Deadline: 1 September

Rotary’s highest honor for individual Rotarians, recognizing up to 150 Rotarians annually who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service, with an emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement helping others through Rotary. Current District Governors, current/past Directors may nominate up to three candidates by 1 September each year.

The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service
