Circle – Native Americana Cult Classic Comes of Age

Native music hall of fame inductee Keith Secola releases the 25 year deluxe re-issue of the album Circle. Previously released through Keith’s indie label Akina, this marks the first time the cult classic will be released with an outside label, through Don Giovanni Records. Long regarded as one of the most influential records of its kind, Circle has defined a means of expression for contemporary Native American culture. Blaring from the car stereo on the way to the powwow or remixed and thumping in a night club, the anthems of Circle are staples of the Indigenous music scene, and have earned admiration from musicians’ musicians like Jerry Garcia and John Densmore.

The rerelease of Circle can be purchased through Don Giovanni Records, iTunes, Amazon, Band Camp, Google Play, on vinyl, CD, or digital download. Catch a listen on Spotify, Apple Music, Napster, Deezer, and Tidal.

The 12 song collection spans more than 40 years of songwriting/recording, and includes the #1 requested song on Indigenous radio stations (for over 2 decades) NDN Kars, along with other classics best known from the soundtrack of Dance Me Outside, in addition to newer works like the #NoDapl protest song You Got Land, and the heartfelt and philosophical travellers’ song Book of Life.

The rerelease of Circle brings Keith’s music to a new light. Germinated in the underground, Circle gave roots to the Native Americana genre, inspiring countless artists, both within and outside of NDN Country. The songs featured on the rerelease of Circle trace the journey of decades of nurturing, collaboration, cross pollination, and innovative expression that have helped to assert an Indigenous identity beyond beads and feathers, yet with honour for those who have gone before.

The production of this album has been a Native American co-operative endeavour.
