AcademicallyDisadvantagedWhenreportingacademicallydisadvantagedstudents,collegesmayreportstudentswho,basedonaTexasSuccessInitiative(TSI)approvedtest,donothavecollegeentry-levelskillsinreading,writing,ormath.CollegesshouldalsoreportTSIcompliantstudentswhoareenrolledinremedialcoursesbasedontheresultsoftestsadministeredforplacementpurposes.TheInterimEvaluationReportdefinitionmayalsobeappliedforstudentswhodidnotreceiveahighschooldiplomanorreceiveaGEDcertificate.Fieldwillcontain“1”ifthestudentisacademicallydisadvantaged.Pleasenotethatacademicallydisadvantageddoesnotincludestudentswithlearningdisabilities.(CTCCBM001,CBM00A,CBM0E1)

AccountabilitySystemTheHigherEducationAccountabilitySystemisusedtotrackperformanceoncriticalmeasuresthatexemplifyhighereducationinstitutions'missions.TheSystemismodeledonthestate'shighereducationplan,ClosingtheGapsby2015.ItsmajorfocusisonthefourClosingtheGapstargetareasofparticipation,success,excellence,andresearch.

AccreditationAprocesssignifyingthataninstitutionhasapurposeappropriatetohighereducationandresources,programs,andservicessufficienttoaccomplishitspurposeonacontinuingbasis.CollegesinTexasshouldrefertothePrinciplesofAccreditation(replacestheCriteriaforAccreditation)bytheCommissiononCollegesoftheSouthernAssociationofCollegesandSchools(SACS).TheCBnowrecognizesotheraccreditingagencies,whichcanbefoundonourwebsiteatAccreditorRecognition.

AccumulatedDeferredMaintenance(ADM)Projectsfromprioryearsthatwerenotincludedinthemaintenanceprogrambecauseofperceivedlowerprioritystatusthanthosefundedwithinthebudget.

ACCUPLACERAnapprovedacademicskillsassessmentinstrumentthatallowsastudenttosatisfyoneormoresection(s)oftheTexasSuccessInitiative(TSI)uponmeetingthedesignatedstandardforthatsectionorsections.ItisofferedbyTheCollegeBoard.(CBM002)

ACTAmericanCollegeTest.TheACTassessmentprogrammeasureseducationaldevelopmentandreadinesstopursuecollege-levelcourseworkinEnglish,mathematics,naturalscience,andsocialstudies.AstudentwhomeetsCBstandardsondesignatedsection(s)oftheACTisexemptfromtherequirementsoftheTexasSuccessInitiative(TSI)fortherelatedsection(s).(CBM002)
