Spelling Tic-Tac-Toe

Italicized words may be on review tests in the future. Do any 3 you choose, but the middle one is always the most important. Words with a line through them are recommended by Harcourt, but omitted by your teacher – you do not have to do them!

Alphabetical Order
Print your spelling words in alphabetical order.
Use your best handwriting.
Hint: it’s easier if you number them on the list first. That way you can just erase the number if you make a mistake, instead of starting over. / Buy a Vowel
Choose 10 of your spelling words. If vowels cost .25 and consonants cost $1.10 then how much is each word worth?
Example: s-a-v-e-d
1.10 + .25 + 1.10 + .25 + 1.10 =$3.80 / Growl and Grow
/ow/ can say two sounds. Make two columns and list at least 10 words with /ow/ that sound like:

Write the entire list of your spelling words end-to-end, as one long word, using different colors for each word.
Hint – you may use crayon, marker, colored pencil, or even colored computer fonts / Double Team!
Sort the words by the double vowel sound they have:

Write your spelling words by adding one letter at a time.

I Question That!
Choose 10 of your spelling words. Write statement sentences for 5 of the words and question sentences for the other 5 words.
Remember: Sentences start with a capital letter, have a complete thought and punctuation. / Art Museum
Using 8 of your spelling words. Write a sentence for each and a draw a picture to illustrate your sentence. Underline the spelling word. / Flower s Power
Draw a flower garden picture. Put 1 spelling word on each petal or flower.
