Sir James Smith’s Art Department GCSE Personal Project Sketchbook Term 2

You will be assessed upon:

  1. Drawing and photographs (recording accurately, use of tone….)
  2. Artist Research (pictures, copies and notes)
  3. Using a range of media and techniques
  4. Completing your work and making your work personal

Each section is worth 25% your sketchbook can really help you in these areas you need to fill it by Easter break.

These are the term requirements.

  3. Colour Pencil drawing based on own photo. DL 27th Sep
  4. Watercolour drawing based on own photo DL 4th Oct
  5. Oil Pastel drawing based on own photo DL 11th Oct
  6. Felt Pen drawing based on own photo DL 18th Oct
  7. Final design of final piece DL 8th Nov
  8. Final Piece. DL 13th Dec

Homeworks. These are the minimum to achieve a good grade. Your sketchbook should be full at the end of the project showing clear development in both skills and understanding. You will be given marks and ‘TIPS’ to improve on your work and what is needed to achieve top grades.

Halfterm (vital week of preparation for what you are going to produce as your final piece (25% of your mark)

  1. Double page spread of ideas of what you will produce for your final piece to include links to artists styles and techniques in the form of notes, thumbnails and images. Your photographs, note over them, use overlays of drawings etc.We will be using this double page to base the rest of your work on so spend at least 5 hrs on it. DL 11th Jan
  2. Double page media experiments for final piece.DL 15th Nov
  3. Complete Sketchbook over the Christmas Break and go back to improve areas that you feel are the weakest and bringing your overall mark down, get them up to the standards of your BEST work. DL 3rd Jan

All Year 11 class work to be completed by 13th December, sketchbook completed by 3rd January the first lesson back. In that first lesson we will be starting the real EXAM (40% of your overall grade).
