SAC Meeting Minutes Maplewood Elementary 11-14-16

Meeting was called to order at 2:20 by Mrs. Bretz SAC Co-Chair.

Mrs. Bretz described in detail the school’s SIP (School Improvement Plan) to the SAC members. The SIP Plan is also on the school’s website.

·  Discussed the SIP Goals for 2016 – 2017

·  Discussed the positive feedback from teachers regarding the program “School City”.

·  Discussed FSA testing for 3rd/4th/5th grades

Discussed need to change SAC meeting dates:

1/9/17 to 1/17/17

Motion to change SAC dates by Alan Jablonowitz / second by Jeni Marsiello. Motion approved unanimously.

Principal Report

Mrs. Itty, school Principal, made a request of SAC requesting that the School Accountability Funds (current balance $5832.00) be used to purchase additional BAS (Benchmark Assessment System) kits for both primary and intermediate grades. This would allow each class to have their own kit for testing. The cost of the kits are $531.21 less a 20% discount. There would be 10 additional kits (7 Primary and 3 Intermediate).

Motion made by Erika Bretz (SAC Co-Chair) to approve the purchase / seconded by Alan Jablonowitz (SAC Co-Chair).

Motion approved unanimously to purchase the kits.

Mrs. Itty reported that the first round of School City assessments are done in grades 2 – 5. The program is user friendly and allows you to know what standards are being addressed.

Upcoming Dates

Report Cards: November 17th

Third grade Honor Roll: November 18th

Fourth and Fifth grade Honor Roll: November 21st

Maplewood staff pot-luck holiday luncheon: November 22

Holiday store set up on December 5th. It will be open from December 6th – 9th. Family Night will be December 7th.

PJ Bash will be on December 9.
