DearEnglish 301 classmates,

I am responding in regards to the posting for becoming a member of a professional writing team, as specified by Professor, Dr. Erika Paterson, in her instructions for Assignment # 2. In this application letter, please allow me to list my relevant qualifications with the intention of finding the right writing team to work in collaboration with during this summer semester for the common purpose of improving our technical writing skills as a team.

I am an international student from Russia, who is close to graduating from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Being able to major in International Relations, let me explore the prairies of subjects from different spheres of life. I have gone to imaginary trips back in time to see how civilizations were evolving in my history classes. I have explored the processes of globalization and business development in my economics and political economy classes. I have seen the country boarders being erased in political geography and laws being made in my international law classes. Also, I have observed the evolution of technology and development of gender relationships with the help of literature and psychology classes. As such, I consider myself an open minded and multidimensional character.

In addition to my academic achievements, I have also gained professional career experience working at Microsoft as a Product advisor in a role of Business Captain. My responsibilities included working with customers one on one providing globally acknowledged excellent customer service and experience through product advising, consultation, conducting workshops and demos that would blow customers’ minds and make fans of Microsoft products out of them. Speaking of my Business Captain role, I am responsible for working with business customers through the usage of customer relationship management software. I contact, email, create quotes, respond to requests and orders in a timely manner as well as find the best solutions for our business clientele.

Being a Russian native speaker adds a little bit of lyrics to my writing. I am fascinated with Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin’s poems and style. Victorian era literature is also one of the kinds that affected the way I speak. As such my writing tends to be romantic, poetic and sort of inspiring in some way. However, even though I see it as my strength, it is my weakness at the same time due to me using this pattern in English language, which sometimes does not make sense or confuses the native English speaker. Being overwhelmingly lyrical makes me a good public speaker and story teller, yet it derives me from being perfectly clear and technical, precise to the point when I speak in English.

My learning philosophy is learn hard, don’t be afraid to fail and fail fast. And while failing look for the ways to come back up. To sum it up, I welcome the opportunity to further discuss with you how my skills and ideas can benefit the writing team at ENGL 301 class. Please contact me via email at or message me on Facebook.

Thanks for your consideration; I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sincerely,

Veronika Zaytseva
