ELKINS, W.Va. – American Mountain Theater will start performing its annual Christmas Spectacular on Friday, Nov. 25, with tickets for the 22 shows expected to go quickly.
This year’s schedule includes matinees at 2 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday, plus 7:30 p.m. performances Wednesday through Saturday evenings. The final performance will be held on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased by calling 304-630-3040 or toll free, 800-943-3670, or through AMT’s website at www.americanmountaintheater.com.
The 2011 edition promises to be bigger and better than ever, with new songs and skits, plus a return of the incredibly popular “Toast” song performed by Jeremiah Franks. “Toast” was performed in AMT’s 2007 & 2008 Premier 2-Hour Shows, and has been one of the most requested numbers ever since, AMT President and Producer Kenny Sexton said.
“Our Christmas Spectacular is special to both our fans and to our talented cast,” Sexton said. “As always, we will perform a variety of holiday-themed songs and skits sure to fill people with Christmas spirit. Ultimately, we want to remind people of the reason for this special season, the birth of Jesus Christ.”
AMT recently concluded another successful season of its Premier 2-Hour Show, with fans from around the region and country attending. The Christmas Spectacular often draws sellout crowds, with people making holiday travel plans around the opportunity to see the show.
Christmas shows will be performed through Sunday, Dec. 18, with a matinee that day marking the end of the 2011 AMT season.
“This has been another blessed year for us,” Sexton said. “We received the West Virginia Division of Tourism’s Community Tourism Development Award and signed an agreement to have our shows broadcast nationwide on RFD-TV. We are well aware, however, that none of this would be possible without the steadfast support of our fans, and we truly appreciate their support.”
The AMT theater in Elkins’ Historic Railyard seats more than 600 people for the Christmas shows, but sellouts still are expected for many performances. Groups frequently buy large blocks of tickets, and fans are encouraged to make their plans early if they want to see the show on a particular date.
Special dinner-and-show packages or entire weekend itineraries are available for those who want to spend time in the mountains during the holidays. Itineraries and more details are available on the website, www.americanmountaintheater.com.
“Please join us for another wonderful year reminding people of the importance of friends, family, and the birth of our Lord,” Sexton said. “We promise you’ll leave with a song in your heart and joy in your soul.”
