Timings: / March – July 2014 –2-3 days per week. Available to attend two evening events 5th and 12th June.
Department/ Project Information:
Crisis is the national charity for single homeless people. Funds raised from our events go towards our work helping homeless people to transform their lives and look to the future.
You will work within Crisis’ busy events and community team, supporting the Challenge EventsExecutive to plan and deliver a variety of fundraising events including the Crisis Square Mile Run series. This Crisis Square Mile Run is the biggest annual charity fun run in the City and will be the main focus of your time. Last year the event attracted over 2,000 participants who took part on the 3.75 mile course around the City, raising £140,000 for Crisis. Four years ago a relay event was added to the series that has been growing in popularity year on year. Last year over 600 people took part.
The Crisis Square Mile Run Series is set to take place on Thursday 5th June and Thursday 12th June 2014.
In addition, you will assist with the Crisis London Marathon Team, providing support to runners and helping on the day of the event.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Be a point of contact for all Square Mile Run participants and respond to any requests for information in a timely and efficient manner
- To design and implement a marketing campaign, including social media activity to generate event sign-ups and help promote the event within city companies
- To assist withmailings and emails to engage and update Square Mile Run participants
- To take responsibility for the Square Mile Run registration system and ensuring teams are uploaded onto Raiser’s Edge database correctly
- To ensure invoices are raised and processed quickly and efficiently
- To design a communications plan for all participants that engages them in fundraising
- To source Gifts in Kind from external companies such as water for runners and prizes
- To provide support with logistics and on-the-day delivery of the event
- To carry out follow up calls and emails to participants after each event
- Provide other support to the Events Team as directed by the Challenge Events Executive.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in data entry and databases
- Good communication skills (including telephone skills and written communication)
- Good Administrative skills (including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel)
- An interest of using social media tools and techniques
- Commitment to the vision and values of Crisis and an understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness.
