Member Appointed to Tayside NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport today announced the appointment of Robert Peat as a member of Tayside NHS Board.

MEMBER

Robert Peatrecently retired from the Care Inspectorate where he was a member of the Executive Team. Prior to this he worked in Social Work in Tayside for 25 years. Robert was Director of Social Work and Health, and Depute Chief Executive of Angus Council. He brings extensive experience of working in local government and in particular working alongside the NHS and other partners in the delivery of care and support for children and adults. Robert has particular knowledge of working with alcohol and drug misuse issues and has a keen interest in public health matters.

APPOINTMENT

This appointment will be for 4 years and will run from 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2020.

This appointment is regulated by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland.

REMUNERATION

This appointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £8,169 per annum for a time commitment of 1 day per week.

OTHER MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS

Dr Peat does not hold any other ministerial public appointments.

POLITICAL ACTIVITY

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Dr Peat has not undertaken any political activity in the last 5 years.

NHS Tayside is responsible for meeting the health needs of over 400,000 people living in Tayside, and provides a comprehensive range of primary, community-based and acute hospital services for the populations of Dundee City, Angus and Perth & Kinross.
