Creating an assessment using Examview

1.  Click on the “Examview Test Generator” icon on the desktop. ( If the icon is not on the desktop, locate Examview from the program menu using the start button).

2.  Once the program opens, you have two choices: you can generate a test using the “Examview Wizard” or you can “Create a New Test”. For the purpose of this training we will use the second option – Create a new test.

3.  Click on “Create a new test” and then click the “OK” button.

4.  You are now in the program and you want to choose test items from the test bank.

  1. First, type in the name of the test. You can name the test in any manner that you please.

5.  You can either type your own questions/answers or you can select questions from an existing bank of questions.

  1. Selecting from an existing question bank- click on the “Select Menu” scroll down to “While Viewing” all question banks should show in this window.

  1. Choose the assessment bank that you would like to work with. ( For this session we will work with the 7th Grade Reading) “Hawaii and its Volcanoes”, click “Next”

Select the question bank that you want to work with here.

**You can select ALL of the questions by clicking in the top box on the left. If you DO NOT want ALL of the questions available in the bank, scroll and click the questions that you want. ** The bank also shows you the answers to the questions along with the benchmark it addresses.

6.  In this view/window you will be able to see all of the questions associated with this particular passage. In this particular passage there are 23 questions available. You will find the number of questions available at the top of the window. Select 10 questions from the question bank. Once you have selected 10 questions, Click “ Finish” located at the bottom of the screen that you are working in.

** You can click on the instructions for any section of the test and change/modify the instructions. You may also add any additional information to the test that you would like by going to the “TEST” Menu.

7.  We are almost finished- Save your test if you are satisfied with the questions.

8.  From the File Menu- Click “Publish Online Test
