Airline information:
For dogs travelling alone, they are shipped as cargo. The following measurements are required: Travel kennel: Height, width and depth
Dog: 1. Tip of nose to root of tail,
2. Elbow measurement to the ground
3. Width at the widest point of the animal
4. Height of animal, top of head or ear whichever is higher.
What happens if connecting flight out of Barbados is missed?
In such circumstances the transiting animal would be kept in the Animal Reception Centre until it could be accommodated on a flight out. Someone would be assigned to feed and water it. The owner(s) could visit and walk it if necessary. Under normal circumstances, an overnighting fee of BDS $50 per night is charged for transiting animals but in cases where it was a missed flight, no extra charge is applied.
Flight from SVG to Barbados via LIAT.
Arrangements are made with LIAT Quickpack offices at the cargo terminal at the airport. Only one flight a day LIAT 306 at 10:25am (Monday to Friday) for shipment of cargo.
They will require copies of all appropriate health status documentation,Barbados transit permit and onward shipping information. You will also need to visit a customs broker to have a shipping bill prepared. This is also given to LIAT

“Based on the following ruling by the TSA and Department of Homeland Security American Airlines will not be able to accommodate your shipping needs.
On November 8th, 2010, major Transportation Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security changes affected imports to and through the United States. Individuals without an established business relationship can not tender (check in) cargo shipments, including live animals.
Shipments heading to the United States require the use of a professional freight forwarder, IATA agent, or customs broker with an established business relationship with the airline The freight forwarding company of your choice will provide a quote and shipping details.
