Equipment and software tips

Before you start, you need to take some time to ensure everything is in working order, and that you are familiar with the cameras and the computer application that you want to use.

/ To complete this activity
  1. Tick the ‘check’ box to make sure you can complete all the required tasks.
  2. If you can’t complete the required tasks, find someone to help you while you work.
  3. Print the sheet so you can refer to it when you are videoing or taking photos.

Before you start your project

Get to know your camera

1.Do you know how to use the camera to get the best video footage or photographs?
2.Do you know how to download your footage or photographs onto your computer?
3.Do you know how to edit your video footage to create one continuous video?
4.Do you know how to convert your footage into a format that you can share with your teacher?
5.Do you know how to organise your photos into the correct sequence and move those you do not want to another folder?
6.Do you know how to transfer and logically arrange your photos into a digital presentation program or print them for a photo book or book?

Get to know your computer applications

Tasks / Check
1.If you are planning to use a digital presentation program, do you know how to use the application?
Hint: You can teach yourself as you go or you may have someone who can help you with this.
2.Take some sample shots or footage to check the light and ensure your shots are clear.
3.Check your shots or footage as you go along so you can reshoot if you do not like your results.
4.Do you know how to convert your footage into a format that you can share with your teacher?
5.Take a variety of shots – long shots and close-ups, from different angles, including left, right, low and high.
Hint: Label the photographs and save them in your portfolio.
