ThankyouforyourinterestinTheChildren’sCenterat Caltech. Since1972, we havebeenoffering highqualitychildcareandeducationforchildrenages sixmonthtosixyears. In2000,ourresearch ledus toadoptSTEM(Science, Technology,EngineeringandMathematics)curriculaas a focusofourearly childhoodprogram. AsleadersinSTEMEarly Childhoodeducation,we launchedECSTEM( 2011, and began hosting anannualconference bringingtogethereducators,policy makers,researchersand othervested communitystakeholderstoaddress theneedsofouryoungestcitizens.
Duetotheoverwhelmingdemandfortoursofourfacilities,andrequestsfor professionalgrowthworkshops,we haveformeda ProfessionalDevelopment Division(PDD)thatarrangestours,on-sitevisits andworkshops.
The “E” in STEM: Engineering
How do you implement engineering into the early childhood classroom? Join us as we take a look at the Engineering Design Process. We will focus on the two to five year old perspective and their experiences with engineering stairs, homes, boats, and rafts.

A Beginner’s Guide to Gardening
with Children
This workshop will provide a step by step gardening guide for early childhood educators who are seeking to incorporate gardening experiences into their daily curriculum. We will be discussing the Who, What, When, Where, and Why with a focus on Life Science. Hands-on learning included, so please come prepared to get a little messy!

The Math of Music
Join us for mathematical music, movement, and research! Training the earof young children, while using musical pattern recognition, is an integral part of math skills. Usage of mathematical intelligence and awareness by pattern recognition is learned through song/tales, echo songs, folk dance, tapping, clapping, and playing barred and percussion instruments.
