The Web Team is part of the Directorate of Marketing and Communications. The team is responsible for the entire QMUL web presence offering a complete in-house service for all schools/institutes and departments across the University. The team operates in a fast-paced industry and is focused on delivering the One Web strategy – the largest digital transformation ever undertaken by QMUL.

To assist in the production of high quality websites that will effectively raise the university’s profile and support student and staff recruitment, academic research and other marketing objectives.
To contribute to the overall QMUL web presence, strengthening the QMUL brand online and ensuring a consistent, first-rate user experience.
Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work alongside designers, editors, writers and developers as part of the Web team to continually develop the QMUL web presence and position QMUL as the best in the sector.
  • Page production/build of html pages in the CMS under the guidance of the web editors and web designers.
  • Front-end development (CSS/JS)
  • SEO
  • Proof and optimise content for the web.
  • Set up sites in the Content Management System (CMS).
  • Set up and manage user access to the CMS.
  • Manage publishing editions for all sites in the CMS.
  • Assist the Web Support Officer with web support calls and train users on a one-to-one basis.
  • Digitally manipulate and optimise images before uploading to the CMS for publishing.
  • Monitoring page production for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Research latest front-end technology and evaluate how QMUL may implement those techniques to improve the user experience (UX).
  • Undertake other duties as may be specified by the Head of Web.
